...If not, is there more of an emphasis on chosing the right one for DC so that they dont have to go through the same dislike?

If not, why not?

I'll start - I'm a Kirsty. Yes I like my name. Was not popular when I was growing up (one other in a school of 300) No bad nicknames or teasing and suits me well as an adult. Plus there are some great Kirsty/ Kirstie's around. My parents did a good job I think :)

What do you like / dislike about your own name?

Like my first and middle names, all traditional regal British names, nothing to be ashamed of here Grin

I don't like my name, its superbly boring. Hannah.

The Dd I named has an unusual (but not made up) name. Dp named the other so I can't comment, it's pretty enough but not what I'd have chosen. (It's a bit common)

I like my name - Emma. I think it's nice, feminine, classic. I hated it growing up, I wanted a name that could be shortened to a boy's name - Sam(antha) or George(ina). But I stopped wanting to be a boy a long time ago so now I like it.

DD has a very girly, slightly old-fashioned name, DS has a classic boys name - I still love their names and have no regrets about not choosing something more unusual.

I like my name- I'm a Philippa, I think it's classic but not too common. My sister was less fortunate and has always hated her name. She thought very carefully about her DDs' names.
