Final names, what do you think?

Think we've narrowed our list down to a favourite boy name and a favourite girl name for our baby due in September. Thought I'd canvas opinions in case I've missed any unfortunate connections or nickname potential!

Elizabeth Clare
Ross Alexander

surname is two syllable and starts with S. I think they are fairy safe and middle of the road but would prefer it if they fell on the nice/pretty side rather then totally dull!

I love Elizabeth and Alexander.

Be careful with Libby though, a friends DD gets nicknamed Labia at secondary school.

Oh no, not Alice. I really can't stand Alice - it always sounds so "china doll, sickly little thing sat in the corner" to me!

I have a niece with a dd called Liberty nn Libby [I always think liberty bodice but havent said so!]

Morning and thank you for your comments. Hadn't noticed eclare but its actually quite sweet, at least its nothing rude! Will just have to install healthy eating and exercise as good habits.

Have a friend called ross stevenson so will ask him how he gets on with it...usually have to spell our surname anyway so don't want to add to their troubles, plenty time to put some more thought into it.

Am also in Scotland... Like all your names individually, especially Libby - was on our short list if DS had been a girl.

But, do agree with previous posts about the combinations ie Ross S... being hard to say and also immediately thought E-Clare.

I don't dislike Ross, but isn't it going to sound very awkward with a surname that begins with S? Try saying for example

Ross Simpson
Ross Stewart
Ross Stevens

Hahaha I have a friend called Elizabeth Clare, never thought of e-Clare will be ripping the piss with that shortly...

But seriously, both choices excellent, neither will be bullied in the playground. Both sound great from baby though to adulthood IMO.

Ross sounds dated, Alexander is ok-ish.
Elizabeth Clare won't set the world on fire but sounds quite sweet together.

Both names sound really nice - i'm in scotland too and they are easy to say and spell which is important.

My only observation is that a girl may have to contend with E-clare?

I like Elizabeth, and love Libby.

I like the name Alexander more than Ross, but I don't hate it.

I like Elizabeth 100x better than Alice.

But you can't win if you are going to ask a huge forum like Mumsnet!

There is guaranteed to be a division of opinion on whatever names you choose Grin but I have no doubt at all that you will come up with the perfect name for your dc.

I have t be honest, I think Alexander is much nicer than Ross, but if you are happy with it, go for it.

How funny! I know lots of Scottish boys called Ross. Ditto Lachlan, Logan, Jamie and Finlay.

Thats fine coco, as you say world would be very boring if we were all the same!

There definitely seems to be a trend to where you live and what named are popular, we are in scotland and there are some names posted on here i've never heard of!

Not a fan of Ross sorry. Unless you are Scottish then it is nice.

Yes I know that sounds weird but Ross works in a Scottish accent.
