Hiya so my little man is now 13 days old & STILL doesn't have a name!
I'm actually starting to get embarrassed now.
I think my 2 favs are
Noah James or
Joshua possibly with Noah as a middle name but open to suggestions

Joshua known as Josh has been my fav name since I was about 14, but I picture a brown haired brown eyed boy with it. My baby has unexpectedly got green eyes & blond hair! I say unexpected as im mixed race to have brown skin, hair & eyes & although daddy has very fair Irish skin & green eyes ge has really dark hair!
Anyway just don't think he looks like a Joshua even though I love the name!

He does look like a Noah but not sure if that will give kids a reason to tease him at school?

I need help please name my baby for me

Xxx

I much prefer Joshua to Noah.

I know what you mean about Joshua sounding dark haired but then I think the same applies to Noah. And his hair is very very likely to go dark at some point.

They're both fine. If you think he looks like a Noah, name him Noah.

I like the earlier suggestion of Josiah as a compromise too. I've got a feeling Jonah or Jonas might suit you too.

What about James Noah, instead of Noah James? He sounds like a James to me.

My Joshua was blond with brown eyes, actually, he started out strawberry blond, then went very blond and got darker and darker and at 13yo is very dark brown haired. My Dd who is mixed race, but pale skinned, had piercing sky blue eyes and blond hair which is now quite dark and at age 5 years her eyes turned sea green, so your Ds may not keep the colouring he has now.

Needless to say; I love the name Joshua!

Love Noah.

Not mad about Joshua and strongly dislike Josiah.

Most of the Joshuas I know are blond - in fact, all 3 of them are. If it's a name you love and you are fine with it being a popular name - then go with it. Plus, hair and eye colour changes a lot. Good luck!

I'm amazed your newborn has green eyes! Aren't they all born with blue? I have green eyes, but they were blue at first.

I like Noah more. Yes it's getting popular but Joshua/Josh is already popular. I think Josh sounds very public school and a bit "Gap Yah" (but that's probs because I was one of only 26 girls at a mostly boys school in 6th form, and there were LOADS of Joshs going off to Malayshaaaah on their Gap Yahs.)

TitsalinaBumSquash · 28/04/2012 09:33

I have been looking at boys names and out of all the 12 people I know expecting ATM, all of them have Noah as a main contender, I think it's getting very popular.

mellowcat · 28/04/2012 09:32

Cross posted...Josiah is fab and a perfect compromise in my opinion!

mellowcat · 28/04/2012 09:30

Well, I think he will become Josh if thats what you decide to call him. Also he may not stay blond so may end up looking like your idea of a Josh. Personally I prefer Noah and don't think he will get teased, but thats probably because I have looked after way too many Joshuas...is very very popular.

Congratulations and good luck with your decision!

HecateTrivia · 28/04/2012 09:28

oh, and Josiah could also be shortened to Josh.

Yama · 28/04/2012 09:28

I much prefer Joshua.

HecateTrivia · 28/04/2012 09:27

Of the two, I prefer Noah.

However, I'd go for Josiah. It's Noah/Joshua like and my current favourite boy's name.

I realise I have no say in this Grin
