I know one. She's 80 and knits a lot. It suits her well.

I'm not sure a child today would grow up to thank their parent for lumbering them with a name that is very old-fashioned at best, ludicrously silly at worst.

AWomanCalledHorse · 23/04/2012 09:26

Every Dorothy I know hates their name. They hate Dot & Dottie even more. (I know 5 Dorothys/middle name Dots).

BrightnessFalls · 23/04/2012 09:22

I assume it will be Dot.

I really like Dorothy, and Dottie as a nn would be fine.
I don't like it with Kitty though.

DaenerysTargaryen · 23/04/2012 01:03

no

Janoschi · 23/04/2012 01:02

Wow that's a bit harsh, guys! Bit twee, granted, but they'll be Dot and Kit when older perhaps. And then they'll go their separate ways and no longer be Dottie & Kitty to anyone but close family.

stressheaderic · 22/04/2012 23:59

Ridiculous. Might as well call her La-La-Loopsy.

CointreauVersial · 22/04/2012 23:57

Vile.

Badgerina · 22/04/2012 23:55

I think Dottie is really twee tbh. As a nn for Dorothy, I like Dot, but not Dottie. With Kitty it's even twee-er. They'd HAVE to be head to toe in Cath Kidston. Puke. Grin
