Hahaha, and DD has an aunt called Roxanne.....there may be something in that Shock

startail · 23/04/2012 17:53

We have a very silly book about a dog called Dottie and Dorothy is an 80+ old lady. Just no!

Floggingmolly · 23/04/2012 17:40

Trixie and Sylvie are strippers names! Thank God sense prevailed, Madame Grin

MadameChinLegs · 23/04/2012 17:10

I like it.

But I also like Trixie and Sylvie Blush

My DD got off easy ( her dads influence)

CecilyP · 23/04/2012 17:09

She really does need a proper name as well. So Dorothy or, maybe, Dora.

Whiteangel · 23/04/2012 16:45

My sister is called Charlotte which I have shortened to Dot. It suits her. Charlotte could be shortened to Dottie but would also give you other options longer term.

Floggingmolly · 23/04/2012 16:06

It's the name of a 90 year old great aunt.

upahill · 23/04/2012 16:05

I'm with stressheaderic on this one!!

ohgawd · 23/04/2012 16:00

I like it. Smile

tunaday · 23/04/2012 15:58

Not mad about it tbh Think she could be in for a lot of teasing. And I'm thinking of a 20+ young woman wanting to be taken seriously at work and being called Dottie.

BrightnessFalls · 23/04/2012 15:23

Dolly?

I think it would be a terrible name to inflict a child with. Might as well call her dippy or loopy. Sorry to be harsh but honestly anything but Dottie

minipie · 23/04/2012 13:36

Dottie is very, very cutesy. It will be sweet on a little girl, but won't work well (IMO) on an adult unless she wants to be a clown or children's entertainer. So, she'd need to have a full name as well to use as an adult. Dorothy is ok but a bit "old lady" for me.

Kitty, on the other hand, I really like (but again, would give full name of Katherine for adult purposes).

mummiekins · 23/04/2012 13:34

How about Dolores as fully name for Dottie - bit American but I like it.

BrightnessFalls · 23/04/2012 13:32

considering there will be nine years between them, I doubt it.

Dotty and Kitty run the risk of being Snotty and Shitty at school. Mind you, I went to a tough school :o

miaowmix · 23/04/2012 13:30

No, sorry. Dorothea is just about palatable. I do know a child just christened 'dot' which I think takes tweeness to new limits (and i have a dd with a classic but old lady 'chic' name).

Ugh123 · 23/04/2012 13:30

Bear in mind it could become Grotty Dottie.

BBQJuly · 23/04/2012 13:28

Dotty and Kitty both sound twee and ridiculous to me.

pigletpower · 23/04/2012 13:11

I love it.

Pancakeflipper · 23/04/2012 12:43

It's a name that makes me smile but would hate to be called it myself.

I known 2 Dorothys and a Dorothea and neither will answer to Dotty.

MagsAloof · 23/04/2012 12:38

Fine as a nn. I know a little Dot. Must be Dorothy or Dorothea (love this) as proper name, though.

PercyFilth · 23/04/2012 12:10

Dorothy is lovely, but Dottie is ridiculous.

MoonHare · 23/04/2012 12:08

Don't really like it no. I know of one about one year old who is Dottie short for Dorothy and it seems to be creeping up in popularity but I'm not keen. Kitty is much better, poor Dottie would be jealous of her sister's name I suspect.
