Cariad
Elinor

I love Cariad, means my love.

Limelight · 20/04/2012 13:47

We've got an Anwen which we 'shorten' to Annie quite frequently. Welsh girl's names are beautiful!

TwllBach · 20/04/2012 13:40

Meinir is one I heard the other day. I liked it a lot and (I think) it could be shortened to May.

I also like Heledd.

I love threads like this, DP is welsh and we live in Wales so I'm always on the look out for pretty welsh names Grin

Thank you emmalina, I never knew you cared Grin.

I've got to say, I don't think I'd inflict Dilys on an innocent baby though - but Cerys, Seren and Rhiannon are lovely.

howcomes · 20/04/2012 00:14

Myfanwy

lagoonhaze · 19/04/2012 20:38

Cerys
Seren
Imogen
Anwen

junemami · 19/04/2012 20:36

Arianwen, Betsi, Blodwen, Bethan, Branwen, Cari, Cadi, Ceinwen, Ceridwen, Cerian, Ceris, Delun, Eirwen, Eiry, Elen, Elisabeth, Esyllt, Ffion, Gwawr, Gwen, Hanna, Heledd, Lilwen, Mali, Mai, Mari, Menna, Nansi, Nia, Rhian, Sali, Sara, Sian, Tegan, Tirion...
Sorry for any duplications.
Lots of my favourite welsh girls names end in -wen (white) which is lovely but sounds naff with our surname which begins with w :(
Some of the prettiest names sound awful if mispronounced, so might be best to avoid if you're not in Wales/welsh speaking area - thinking of Eleri, Fflur, Eurgain, Llinos, Esyllt, Gwawr.

neenienana · 19/04/2012 19:18

seren and angharad are mine too!

SkivingAgain · 19/04/2012 19:17

Lowri

Likeaheadlesschicken · 19/04/2012 19:16

Our DD is called Cadi (pronounced Kaydhe) which is the Welsh version of Catherine, it is quite popular in Wales; approx 36 in the top 100 girls names but about 3000 in the English list.

I know a gorgeous and very sophisticated Olwen, a wonderful Eleri (when her husband says her name he sounds magnificently loving and lusty both at once, so it has a good ring to it) and a lovely Arwen.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 19/04/2012 18:55

Elen.

EmmalinaC · 19/04/2012 18:55

I've always loved Dilys.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 19/04/2012 18:54
