Like Jonah, but not...

My son's middle name is Jonas. It was our second favourite name, and the only other name we could agree on.

Now, I'm pregnant again ? it's VERY early days, so I've a long way to go... but my fingers are crossed and I'm so excited ? and the only boy's name we like is Jonah.

Now, we don't really use DS1's middle name, but I think it might be too much to have Jonas and Jonah

so my options are...

  1. Do it anyway (Just don't want him to feel he had a 'recycled' name)
  2. Change DS1's middle name, and pretend it was a typo... (kidding)
  3. Hope mumsnetters can find me something I love as much. An obvious choose would be Noah, but that's off the table.

Of course, it may be a girl. (I've got a great girl's name Grin )

What do you all reckon?

Yeah he would have his own middle name.

Thanks so much for all the replies - I didn't expect so many so fast.
I'm glad some people think I could use it and get away with it!

Josiah
Joel
Ehren

( I really like Jonah btw, and DS is Joel!)

i think it would be fine, he will have his own middle name as well? and they are different names :)

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 14/04/2012 23:37

I'm a teacher. I barely glance at middle names.

Biscuitbreaker · 14/04/2012 23:26

Plaguegroup, Atruthuniversally...,

I'm so tempted. I swing between 'It's fine - the first names are totally different' and 'their teachers will all raise their eyebrows' Grin

Just use Jonah, it's lovely and middle names don't come up in conversation that often.

Go on! Grin

There's an Ezra at ds1's school.

Sam100 · 14/04/2012 23:19

How about Malachi?

Biscuitbreaker · 14/04/2012 23:00

Now I like Johan and love Micah, but my husband doesn't like either...
Hmm

I think it would be fine. But I still prefer Johan

I doubt they'd mind at all, and if they ever ask you can just say that you wanted them to have similar names.

MerryMarigold · 14/04/2012 22:57

I would change ds1's middle name if he is too young to really know it. I think it would be weird to have Jonas and Jonah. You do talk about middle names as kids, and I think it would make ds2 feel odd that his name was so similar. Mind you, I know twins called Alec and Alex Hmm!

Micah?

Biscuitbreaker · 14/04/2012 22:55

I can't Merry - tis a closely guarded secret. Well, for about 7 months anyway! (fingers crossed) Grin

Does anyone think I could just use Jonah anyway and it'd be fine?

Use Johan instead?

Shoshe · 14/04/2012 22:52

Jago?

MerryMarigold · 14/04/2012 22:51

Oh goo on. Tell us your girl's name.

How about Eli?
