Boaz and Ezra....what do you think????

I am considering both. Already have a boy with an E name, though not sure if that is a problem really!!
Our surname begins with a B so wondering if that rules out Boaz?

So apart from that what do you think of the two names???

i knew of a little Boaz.
his parents got so much grief over his name that they changed it. I thought that was really sad :(

jerseygal78 · 13/04/2012 20:24

my dd2 is Ezri - we felt we could get away with it as a girls name & liked it "in the unusual but a real name line of thought". I think Ezra for a boy is good too though ( though am obviously biased!)

ahhhhhpushit · 13/04/2012 20:16

Isnt Boaz a codeword for being a mason????

Gunznroses · 13/04/2012 19:31

God not " Zeke"! Hate it hate it, cant stand zeke and luther, two buffoons!

FondleWithCare · 13/04/2012 19:22

Ezra is nice. I know one and he has never been mistaken for a female. Boaz I don't like, it has a weird sound to me and my phone wants to change it to hoax.

Gunznroses · 13/04/2012 19:22

And Boaz is great!

Gunznroses · 13/04/2012 19:21

Personally, i like Elijah or Elisha, i also know twins with these names, and my favourite is just "Eli" which is complete separate name from the aforementioned.

scummymummy · 13/04/2012 19:16

Ezra yes, Boas no

DottieRose · 13/04/2012 19:15

Ezekiel is one that I have considered and Zeke for short...thanks for the suggestion!

Ezekiel? Wheeeeeel, I'm not sure........

ElephantsAreMadeOfElements · 13/04/2012 19:14

Ezra is lovely. I wouldn't go for Boaz with a B- surname.

Voidka · 13/04/2012 19:13

I have only ever heard Boas as a surname.

NarkedPuffin · 13/04/2012 19:12

I like Ezekiel as well if you're going biblical.

NarkedPuffin · 13/04/2012 19:12

Ezra is nice. I'm not a fan of surname and first name starting with the same letter, which would rule out Boaz.

DottieRose · 13/04/2012 19:07

It would seem that Ezra is winning hands down.....thanks for all the lovely comments....keep em coming!

Please not Boaz. I keep thinking of the MN .

I guess Ezra is ok, but it's a nn in my family tree for something else (like Israel).

Seeker.....it looks quite nice, for me a name has to look and sound pleasing...does that answer your question my dear?

Ee-saw , I agree that it's a good option. Esau is nice. No to Boaz though, especially with a B surname. I think there's a risk of kids turning it into Bozo too.

seeker · 13/04/2012 18:58

"How do you pronounce Esau? It is quite nice."

How can you possibly think it's "quite nice" if you don't know how to pronounce it????

CuppaTeaJanice · 13/04/2012 18:57

Ezra was on our boys shortlist, along with Nyjah, Enzo and Efryn.

Esau I think is pronounced Ee-saw. Reminds me of an old poem, I saw Esau sitting on a see-saw.

AThingInYourLife · 13/04/2012 18:52

No to Boaz. Just no.

I like Ezra.
