Do ANY of these names go with our surname? I just don't know anymore.

Here are the only boys names DH and I agree on for DC4, not sure they sound right with our surname Owen though.

Seth - DD thinks it sound like Slytherin?
Robin - too many 'in' sounds?
Theo - too many 'o' sounds?
Jude - potential for Judo?

Middle name will be Robert unless of course we go for Robin.

Other contenders are Isaac, Liam and Harry which I think sound better with Owen but also they are a very, very popular round here.

I have it: Phineas Grin

Thanks for the feedback, we have a million girls names but as the last two were boys have really struggled to find a third that doesn't end in 'ie'.

I know the Slytherin thing is daft Grin, but DD keeps plugging away at it I think because she doesn't like Seth Hmm it's hard enough for DH and I to agree without older siblings adding their opinions as well.

Dh prefers Robin, he thinks two syllables sound better with surname.
My Mum did catsbummouth for Jude and Seth but said if you have one I'll love it.
My Dad likes Theo best and thinks it doesn't matter about the O's as we/he won't be going around saying Theo Owen all the time and we could use Theodore for the birth certificate.
My sister hates them all but I think she is annoyed because I want to use 'her' girls name. She isn't pg or even in any position to be pg yet.

I think Seth Owen is lovely. Really like Theo but imo Theo Owen doesn't sound right. :-)

AThingInYourLife · 11/04/2012 11:37

Dominic Owen!

Great suggestion, ginger :)

I think your DD is right about Seth Owen. It sounds like a word - sethowen, not a full name.

BelleTheBeatnik · 11/04/2012 11:30

Seth - I see what your DD means but I think you'd have to say it pretty fast for it to sound like 'Slytherin' and it could be worse!
Robin - Robin & Owen are a little too 'samey' for me.
Theo - I want to like this but Theo Owen is just too much of a tongue-twister IMO - sorry :(
Jude - fine, similiar to Seth

Agree with your feelings about Isaac, Liam and Harry. I think if popularity bothers you then these aren't the names for your baby. IMO Seth is the best option, actually think it goes quite nicely with your surname and Slytherin didn't occur to me at first, so hopefully it won't to many others either?

YouChangeWithTheWeather · 11/04/2012 11:27

No to Robin and Theo. Seth does not sound like Slytherin at all. Jude Owen is a bit Judo-in though.

I think one or three syllables works best with your surname.
Seth
Jake
Frederick

I like Jude and Seth. Robin and Theo definitely don't work with your surname imho

Eglu · 11/04/2012 11:21

Seth is definitely best.

pictish · 11/04/2012 11:19

I think you are over thinking it. Robin is lovely.

Ambrosius · 11/04/2012 11:19

Seth is the best for your surname out of those I think, and a beautiful name! Isaac is also lovely and would go well.
Zeke is a gorgeous name that would go well if you fancied something different?

gingermcflea · 11/04/2012 11:18

Seth Owen sounds great!
Agree with your concerns about the other three. Any of them would be okay, but the n and o sounds are a bit repetitive.

Not keen on Isaac, Liam or Harry. What about Robert as a first name?

I think Seth is the one, but others that I think also sound good with your surname:
Jacob Owen
Francis Owen
Dominic Owen

It's so much harder than you think isn't it. Rememeber younger days when I had a huge list of lovely names, but then when the time comes you need to match up with sir names, middle names, parents names, siblings names, and then, you have to agree!!

Well I love Seth and Isaac.
