Do ANY of these names go with our surname? I just don't know anymore.

Here are the only boys names DH and I agree on for DC4, not sure they sound right with our surname Owen though.

Seth - DD thinks it sound like Slytherin?
Robin - too many 'in' sounds?
Theo - too many 'o' sounds?
Jude - potential for Judo?

Middle name will be Robert unless of course we go for Robin.

Other contenders are Isaac, Liam and Harry which I think sound better with Owen but also they are a very, very popular round here.

winkle2 our other DC have names with that type of ending thats the only reason for ruling out y, ie, ey. We knew three was bordering on themey but four is themey!

If we were having 'ee' names then we would probably choose Stanley.
I think Joseph is lovely but my godson is Joseph.

For me only Isaac Owen really works. I think that you need a stronger sound at the end of the name, although the 'y/ie' sound works too. Two syllables doesn't seem quite right either - one or three seem to me to have a better rhythm.

We found it really hard to identify a second boys name we liked so I can quite see why you are struggling!

Out of your list... Seth Owen goes together well, the others sound odd especially Robin.

I don't think y names necessarily out as we're planning on calling our Joseph Joey as a nn!

Thanks again for all the replies, interesting to see that there is a difference of opinion in what does or doesn't go, which just proves there will almost always be someone who doesn't like what we choose.

DH's name has been mentioned, his parents and grandparents definately picked the best ones for him and his siblings, and lots of the good solid middle names too!

I didn't think this would prove to be so difficult.
I guess we have made it harder by ruling out names ending in 'y', 'ie', 'ay' and 'ey' as we wanted a different ending to our other DC names, and by not choosing to use the same name of anyone we know, even quite distant people.

We have decided to not discuss it any further as we are going round in circles, and just wait and see what we think when he or she is born, only a few days until DDay!
After all if we do have another girl then all this is in vain!

Seth and Jude. Other ones are too many n's and o's! I like Tait too, and don't think Potato!

Jude sounds good with Owen. Not sure about Theo but Theodore does. Robin Owen a bit odd but you'd quickly get used to it.

Perfectly decent choices but Owen is a tricky surname to work with. Ideally, you need a longer name (that doesn't end in N) - e.g.

Griffith Owen
Tobias Owen
Henry Owen
Jasper Owen
Caleb Owen

One syllable names like Jack and James work too.

Seth - sorry but I really, really dislike this name and it does sound 'hissy' imho.

Tait Owen is bad, I'm afraid.

Robin or Jude sound fine to me.

Seth Owen is a great combination, and it's the only name i think works with your surname, but it works so well.

Seth Owen sounds lovely! Jude Owen is fine too. Not keen on Theo Owen. I think Robin Owen is OK but it is a bit of a tongue twister. Seth is lovely though.

I love your suggestions Marshmallow but sadly 8 of them are taken by close friends and family. DH vetoed Edward and Felix, I have vetoed Zachary, Xavier and Lucas which leaves us with Tait Owen which surely is a potential Potato!

Other three DC all have two syllables but they also all end with a similar 'ee' sound and I just don't know about adding a fourth 'ee' name, which is another reason to not use Harry.

We have a Dominic in the family already so that is out anyway.

Your DH is right about a 2 or 3 syllable name with Owen.

sethowen, judeowen - they just sound a bit incomplete.

I love Francis and Frances for a girl but DH won't entertain the boys version just like he won't use Robyn for a girl which I love.
