Your son has a lovely, traditional, classic name. Your taste in girls' names is quite different - quite modern, features lots of names popular in the 80s & 90s and quirky spellings to boot.

On that basis, I think the names that work the best with your son's from your list are:
Holly
Zoe
Lily
Amelia
Emilia
Jasmine

That's quite interesting as i thought Sebastian was quite unusual.
I am having a very different feeling pregnancy this time around.
Holly was our go to girl name last time as we did not find out the sex.
Oh yes we both like Isabelle but it is my sister's name- she has given her blessing , but still..

In 2010, Sebastian was the 65th most popular boys name (including variant spellings of names - e.g. adding up all the baby Sebastians, Sebastiens and Sebastions). This means its well-known but not overwhelmingly so. I wouldn't call it unusual - it's fairly common but not ubiquitous like Oliver or Jack or Harry.

Since you like Isabelle (no. 4 in 2010), I'll assume your preferences for girls' names are similar (recognisable but not massively popular). Girls' names which ranked approximately the same (50-100) in 2010 gives you names like Emma, Darcy, Matilda, Annabel, Florence, Amelie, Georgia, Eleanor, Macey, Bethany, Zara, Harriet, Gabriella, and Tegan. You can see for yourself here: www.namenerds.com/uucn/pop/UK2010/UK2010xx01.html

If you like Isabelle, you might like:
Isadora
Isis
Annabel
Mabel
Christabel
Arabella
Mirabelle

Yes I like a middle ground between weird and boring.
I do not really mind if it is very popular as my name ( Laura ) was so used in my year i had 4 others with same name and I didn't really care.

Love Holly and think it goes best with Sebastian imo

pommedechocolat · 09/04/2012 15:30

I have a Holly so am biased but I love it.

Also think Melissa (nn Lissa) is gorgeous.

Thumbbunny · 09/04/2012 15:32

Has no one suggested Julia yet? or Juliet? Juliana?
actually in all seriousness, Juliet would go nicely with Sebastian.

Maiziemonkey · 09/04/2012 15:40

Hubby doesn't like Julia or Juliette I am afraid.
Holly is well liked by family but our front runner is prob Roxanne or Robyn at the mo.
He likes Rachel but i can't get down with it. Doesn't sound girly enough.

Melissa stands out for me and goes so well with Sebastian.

Love Holly, Melissa, Cassi, Lily, Amelia, Emilia, Jasmine :)

You seem to like names with L, M or S in them, so here are some more...

Louisa
Serena
Larissa/Lara
Miranda
Alisa
Maisie
Cassia
Millie
Mariella
Miranda
Samantha
Serafina
Sophia
Susannah

Melissa has all the three letters L, M and S... so I'd pick this as your potential favourite :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/04/2012 00:03

Love Melissa.

Really like Cassie but as a nn for Cassandra.

anniewoo · 10/04/2012 01:14

Love Holly. How about Eloise. Lovely with Sebastian

welovesausagedogs · 10/04/2012 12:28

I like Lily and Seb - that go really nicely together classic but not boring like Emily and Harry

OTTMummA · 10/04/2012 12:34

I am expecting a girl in July and will be called Cassie, so am biased, but also love, Robyn and Zoe, which were both on my list.

Maiziemonkey · 10/04/2012 17:17

Thanks for all the feed back guys, ongoing

Of your original list I like Robyn, but for me it has a completely different 'feel' to Sebastian. Holly is sweet and familiar without being dull. Also like the suggestion of Cassie as a nn for Cassandra (or Cassia?) - this would give it a better 'balance' with Sebastian. Zoe is my own name and I like it but again it doesn't really go with Sebastian. Really dislike Roxanne I'm afraid!
