Hi,

We are expecting again and would like to use my sisters name as a middle name HOWEVER the name itself doesn't feel middlenameish not even a word more a name in its own right.

Can anyone suggest anything that would work??

I think you are right messy it just doesnt seem to 'fit' as a middle name...back to the drawing board i guess!

Pardon me, EGG Blush Sorry about that Grin.

I think, perhaps, that Fiona is too strong a name to be relegated to middle-name status. Tricky!

EGGteacher · 08/04/2012 21:36

Names meaning 'white'

Some gorgeous ones here.

EGGteacher · 08/04/2012 21:32

Fiona means 'white' so what about a play on that in honour of your sister?

Blanche
Bianca
Vita
Alba

Font???? Bloody iPhone!!!

Babylon1 · 08/04/2012 21:28

I'm a Fiona Jayne if that helps at all!!

Just avoid alliteration at all costs, so no Florence Fiona or felicity Fiona etc!!! My maiden name surname began with F too and I hated it at school!!!!

Also be prepared that everyone will shorten to Fi at any opportunity unless you specifically tell them not to!!!

I font mind being a Fi now, but hated it at school!!!

I dont think id want her to have Fiona as a first name.

Iona Fiona has a ring to it!

Iona?

MessyTerrier · 08/04/2012 21:07

EGG: I'm a 1970's Clare too (born in UK) but we live in Canada and it's a very popular name for little girls over here atm.

MessyTerrier · 08/04/2012 21:05

What about Fiona as a first name?

Ooh Mirren is good.

Think Claire is so dated right now (my name [bugrin]) but maybe it's due an 'old lady chic' comeback chokes.

ByTheWay1 · 08/04/2012 20:53

My sister's first name is Fiona... middle name I'm always envious of - Bernadette.... Known as Berni by friends - Dottie (completely!!) by family....

I like Charlotte Fiona, Claire Fiona (a friend) Abigail Fiona (her sister), Mirren Fiona, Adrienne Fiona, Lauren Fiona, Emily Fiona

EGGteacher · 08/04/2012 20:43

I like Ellen Fiona too.

EGGteacher · 08/04/2012 20:42

What about thinking of names that naturally have an f sound in the middle and adapting them to be two names?

Sarah Fiona (seraphina)
Jenna Fiona (Jennifer)

etc?

buttress · 08/04/2012 20:35

My sisters name is Elen FFion. Welsh version. so.what about Helen FIona orElen FIona??

izzybizzybuzzybees · 08/04/2012 20:24

Rose is actually my sisters middle name :)

I dont think id like to call her Fiona and then use her middle name, seems odd to me.

Still dont see anything thats jumping out at me...although Shrek Fiona does have a nice ring to it Grin

Shrek?

couldn't resist

EGGteacher · 08/04/2012 20:20

I agree that Fiona is a tricky middle name.

Could you use Fiona as the first name but call your DD by her middle name? (I know a family where all the women are called Louise X, but known to all by the X IYSWIM).

That might open up one syllable names like Fiona Jane, Fiona May, Fiona Rose etc?

Janoschi · 08/04/2012 18:53

Tattie's work realy well. Love the 3 syllable thingy.
