Matilda Florence or India Florence?

as the title suggests really! What is your preferred choice? Our surname is one syllable starting with B, and we have DS Alexander James. DD is due in 2 weeks.... Thanks!

You might as well go the whole hog and call her 'Middle Class' Wink

As of the two, def Matilda. Two place names together does look odd. And Matilda is a great name.

I think it's a bit weird to name a child after a whole country.

India is the better of the two (Matilda and Tilly are getting pretty tired now). However it does remind me of India Knight (not a fan I'm afraid). How about Indira or Miranda as pretty alternatives?

India Florence doesn't sound right to me. It's one 'newish' trendy name and one 'old-fashioned' trendy name. Go with Matilda Florence if you don't have anything else. To me, better first names would start with a vowel but more traditional like Isabelle or Anna.

India is one of my favourite names and Florence is one of my favourite places - ur daughter will grow up to be a beautiful travelling backpacker Grin. I can see why some would think it's about to country as it were but I like it. Not keen on Matilda maybe you could do India Tilly Grin

haha - that's very funny, sticking pins in an atlas! We nearly came to that! Not too many Milly/Tilly/Mattie's around here - I think more popular in England and we live in Australia. Plus my Grandma was called Milly (Millicent) so that might be the best nickname for her. Thanks to all

although I am not sure that's necessarily a problem

India is a nice name too

Would Matilda be nicknamed Tilly? There seem to be a fair few Milly/Tillys round here. I like Matilda but overuse of Tilly would put me off.

So probably India Florence.
