Hello all. We thought we had decided on a name for DD but are concerned it's too similar to DD who is Beatrice. The name is Benjamin. What do you think, is it fine or are they too alike. How do they sound together? I know they won't spend all their time together forever but we want to feel comfortbale saying their names. We really need some outside opinions! Thanks

Sound fine. I wouldn't choose a sibling name with letters that match but I also wouldn't let it stop me if I liked to names with same letter.

rhibutterfly · 07/04/2012 16:50

sounds lovely OP:)

pinktrees · 07/04/2012 16:46

It's fine.

I thought you were going to say something like DD1 - Sophia and DD2 - Sophie! But yours are fine.

Momdeguerre · 07/04/2012 16:41

I don't think they sound too similar at all.

oikopolis · 07/04/2012 16:39

they are very different from one another. i don't think it's a problem.

mathanxiety · 07/04/2012 16:31

I think they go very well together and are not similar apart from the B and the three syllables.

pixiestix · 07/04/2012 16:19

Hmmm, I'm not sure.

CecilyP · 07/04/2012 15:00

They sound fine together. Apart from both beginning with 'b' they do not sound too similar.

Bea (pronounced Bee) and Ben is utterly fantastic

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/04/2012 13:41

You are right - Beatrice and Benedict is the opera. I still think it wouldn't work.

telsa · 07/04/2012 13:32

It is Benedick in Shakespeare (pedant alert)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/04/2012 13:17

Both lovely names but, I must admit, I'm not fond of alliterative siblings. It sounds a bit twee. Beatrice and Benedict even more so, because of the Shakespeare link - it would sound a bit contrived, even if unintentional I think.

TeaandHobnobs · 07/04/2012 11:04

I love the name Benedict, but don't forget Beatrice and Benedict are lovers in Much Ado About Nothing! Would have thought that could be awkward for a brother and sister? Confused

Beatrice and Benjamin go together fine, I think

welovesausagedogs · 07/04/2012 10:59

I think they are nice together although they begin with the same letter the endings are different enough, it's not like Charlotte and Charles.

Benedict might be a good alternative though and personally i think it goes with beatrice better. They sound slightly less matchy but come from similar eras.
Beatrice and Benedict

Sounds fine to me!
