Something 'cutesy' but uncommon

I have always loved names like Daisy, Poppy, Molly, Lily, etc. However I want something slightly more unusual for our DD. Does anybody have any suggestions, please? Thanks.

cherri?

No- Margaret because it's not girly. Then hugely girly shortenings. Best if both worlds!

SilkStalkings · 06/04/2012 09:27

Maggie or Daisy short for Marguerite (bit more exciting and girly than Margaret imo)

Margaret. Incredibly unusual, classic and beautiful. And loads of shortenings, cutesy and otherwise.

Meg is gorgeous. Imagine a baby Meg. And a toddler Meg.

manicinsomniac · 06/04/2012 00:21

By 'cutesy' so you mean with the 'ee' sound at the end?

All these are outside of the top 300 (I think):
Allie, Bessie, Betty, Billie, Brandy, Becky, Cassie, Callie, Carrie, Carly, Dulcie, Eilidh, Effy, Fanny (don't!), Ginny, Gerri, Halle, Hadley, Izzy, Julie, Jodie, Josie, Kiki, Kirsty, Keltie, Kristie, Kylie, Kerry, Kelly, Kezzie, Lindsey, Mattie, Minnie, Mindy, Minty, Misty, Macie, Mercy, Miley, Nikki, Penny, Polly, Peggy, Patsy, Pixie, Ryleigh, Romy, Sally, Saffy, Sandy, Tammy, Tansy, Vikki, Verity, Wendy

A lot of them aren't really standalone names though!

mathanxiety · 05/04/2012 23:04

Don't know about cutesy, but how about Cleo, Leonie or Carmen?

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 05/04/2012 23:03

Although I would say, don't give your baby daughter a 'cutesy' name. Give her a proper name.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 05/04/2012 23:00

Peggy

Oops just seen it suggested above. Apart from the nickname Jemmy suggested there, there's also Mima as a nn which is similar to Molly, Lottie etc

MimiPost · 05/04/2012 22:57

Do you like Jemima?

I used to be at school with a sweet girl called Felicity. Her parents called her 'Flick' for short but at school we insisted on calling her 'Knife'.

Shockers I LOVE Pippi, as in Longstocking

I can see both sides of the fluffy nn vs Sunday Best debate.

We called our DC1 'Baby' to her face til DC2 was born. In this light I had thought why not just name DC2 Honey if it's a girl, cut out the middle man. Honey turned out to have a winkie so it was not to be.
On the other hand, if I was wrongly accused of a crime and my barrister was called Honey or Betsy, I might not have quite the same faith in her, as perhaps a Felicity or an Elizabeth. Shallow and prejudiced perhaps, but human nature to make ill-informed judgements.
