Can you tell me how many Isla's do you know in the South West of England. My famish is Scottish, so I know Isla is very popular in Scotland, but not so sure down here.

Thanks Smile

I'm in London and I haven't met any, I love the name though.

Letchladeee · 31/03/2012 22:25

I'm just in the South West, and I don't know any.

Geranium3 · 31/03/2012 22:28

BuntyPenfold · 31/03/2012 22:51

I don't know any in Devon; Orla is the name of the moment.

GladysLeap · 31/03/2012 22:55

DD has one Isla in her class (Reception).

While we were in the SE we knew at least 6 Islas all born between 2006 and 2007.

TheHonMrsP · 31/03/2012 22:55

One in DDs nursery class

WizzyBizzy · 31/03/2012 23:06

I know one Isla in the South West. She's a grown up, but has lived in SW all her life.

seaside72 · 31/03/2012 23:10

I am very far SW in Cornwall and know of 3 Isla's (all under 3 years)

jaffacakehips · 31/03/2012 23:14

Ohh that's good. Thanks for the feedback. I really love the name Iona however it just doesn't work with my DD's name.

Isla was our family dog growing up..Blush yes clearly i'm mad DH has already said we're not naming a baby after your childhood dog Grin But we loved that dog. And i can't think of any other name similar to Iona or Isla.

WetAugust · 01/04/2012 01:12

Am in SW - know none

morecoffeepleaseholdthecake · 01/04/2012 01:17

I'm also in sw and know of none. Lovely name BTW :)

YummyMummybee · 01/04/2012 01:55

I know its not relevant to the topic but Autumn Kelly & Peter Phillips just had a baby girl called Isla Elizabeth, I know they are the royals & the name more than likely won't become too common as they are not in the public eye as much. They also have a little girl called Savannah & that didn't do much to raise the profile of the name!

CalamityJones · 01/04/2012 07:02

I'm near Bath and don't know any Islas. Florence and Beatrice v popular here

lagoonhaze · 01/04/2012 07:14

Know a couple.

greensnail · 01/04/2012 07:31

I'm in devon and know of none here. I know a few in other areas out the country though.

jaffacakehips · 01/04/2012 09:13

Thanks Double

I read about Peter and Autumn Phillips earlier this morning. They are going to be busy!! Savannah imo really isn't that popular, but i could be wrong.

Interesting who no one has mention Isla was the name my father called one of our family dogs Grin Sadly I had a BFN this morning Sad I really really thought it was a BFP so a bit Shock

I am in north west london only ever met 1

silversmith · 01/04/2012 16:13

I'm just in the South West and didn't know any, until 3 Islas (all with the same middle name too) were announced in the same month in my town in the NCT local magazine. No idea where it's suddenly sprung from.

AlmaMartyr · 01/04/2012 16:17

I live in Devon and know a couple of Islas. Lovely name though and not yet super-popular here although I wouldn't be surprised to hear of a lot more soon.

sonniebonnie · 01/04/2012 18:16

I only know one (south London) who pronounced it Ee-sla, like Isla Bonita.

pegster · 01/04/2012 19:16

I'm in Bath and I know a 3 year old, a 7 month old and a prospective bump named Isla - quite often on the lists of people I know round here.

TrueRomance28 · 01/04/2012 23:25

I'm in Devon & don't know of any. Its a lovely name

helebeth · 02/04/2012 10:15

I live in east Cornwall and do not know any children called Isla. Neighbours are both teachers and posed your question to them and neither can recollect any in their classes
