Please help; Delphine or Delphinium

Very similar names, but which one should I choose?
I'm from Liverpool and people have a habit of shortening names, which has relegated my favourite choice, Augusta, to being a middle name because I don't want my daughter to be known as Aggie. I could live with her being called Delphi, though.
If you lovely women could help me decide which one to pick, I'd be really grateful (don't really want to discuss name with family or friends if I can help it).

My DD was going to be delphine until all 10 lbs of her was born and she looked nothing at all like a delphine

Conicidentally if she had been a boy she would've been Augustine

We must have very similar tastes Smile

My mum grows Delphinium's in her garden.

If Delphinium wasn't a flower, it would be the name of an accounting software package or similar.

Delphine, therefore, is the much better choice.

Not my kind of name but of the 2, Delphine definitely. I'm also from Liverpool and the other one is just 'too much' unless your really really posh and want everyone to know it.

i think delphinium is a bit of a mouthful and prob one of those name that your dd would be forever spelling out.

delphine is a lovely name.

Delphine - lovely and a proper name. Delphinium puts me in mind of those batty English ladies with random flower names - like Chris Patten's wife - Lavender which I bet she's hated all her life.

Delphine - definitely. I knew a girl by this name (she was French) and always thought it was lovely.

The other sounds like a genus of plant or a new chemical element or something. It sounds pretty, yes, but also clinical.
