Fenix/Phoenix ?

Ok so we are struggling for a name for ds3.

We have a Dylan and a Miles already.

Quite liking Fenix/Phoenix, opinions pleaseSmile

Wizard I reckon that the relative abundance of Phoenixes might be to do with it sounding a bit like Felix but being a bit more unusual. Its not always a good thing, like alternative 'out there' spellings.

I actually like Phoenix, a name like this could have a really positive personal meaning for a the parent.

Dairy I was just wondering why after having a Dylan and Miles you are now thinking of Phoenix? They are quite different names Grin IMHO. What about Orlando?

Fenix just looks as though you cant spell!
How about Rowan or Gil[bert]?
Gabriel is nice too or Guy or Giles

You can't - well, not really - but in 2010 4 of the 131 mums wanting to name their sons Phoenix got it wrong...

Arlo ias a name s enjoying a bit of a moment, but hardly over-used.

Thanks for all the comments regarding the spelling. I think I agree tbh. Personally I think Phoenix looks nicer as a name anyway. Just need to convince dh of that!

Also, I'm aware my son may not share my mindset. Ds1 and 2 couldn't be more different. There's no way to predict that though just as you can't predict he will be 'short and shy'. I have a very simple name, didn't stop me being extremely shy and uncomfortable as a child and I'm not sure my name would have helped or hindered tbh.

If you like Beck, I wouldn't be put off by it being the name of an older child's friend. It's not like they will be together all the time. Not the same as there being 5 Becks in the same school class at all.

Whatever you do, don't use the Fenix spelling. I agree with earlier comments that it sounds like a prescription drug/medical appliance and also that it will be pronounced 'Fenn-ix' not 'Fee-nix'.

Not too sure but if you are going to choose that name Pheonix is best. Fenix would end up being pronounced Fennix and sound rather odd.

Seeker - why are you so sure this name in particular will be a burden? It's not that unusual.. You should hear some of the names at ds's school! Our family tend to have slightly unusual names as a whole.

Well, let's hope your ds shares your mindset. They don't always, you know.I think imposing your will like this on a person who can't consent is not a good thing to do- it's perfectly possible to give a child an unusual name that is also not a potential burden.

Seeker, Thats quite a negative scenario to imagine. I'm more of an optimistic person, Phoenix is a cool name imo and I'm guessing by that age my ds would be pretty used to introducing himselfGrin

I hate HP so that is totally not the reason I like it! Harry just reminds me of prince Harry do total no no. We are probably gonna use Harrison as his middle name though.

Not sure I like Kier, sounds a bit like beer... Or earGrin

NOT Fenix. It sounds like Fenwicks and it looks like a vitamin syrup. Or a fertiliser for pot plants. And is not a proper spelling.
And most important advice - do not discuss with MIL or any other relatives in advance.

The main character is called Marcus Fenix.
