Ok so we are struggling for a name for ds3.

We have a Dylan and a Miles already.

Quite liking Fenix/Phoenix, opinions pleaseSmile

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
seeker · 31/03/2012 00:25

Right I will keep thinking. I am determined to name this child.
Dylan, miles and Patrick.
Dylan Miles and Rowan.
Dylan Miles and Rufus

DairyNips · 30/03/2012 22:56

Zachary is nice but I know one and wouldn't use it.. Sebastian is a bit long..

Dylan, Miles and Finbar

Dylan, Miles and Jericho

Dylan, Miles and Jasper

Dylan, Miles and Cammo

Not my fave choces, but I tried to go for slighly unusual, but real, names

Frikadellen · 30/03/2012 21:51

I like Phoenix as a name (dont do the other please) and the only one Ive known was lovely so for me it gives memories of a happy chirpy boy

Janoschi · 30/03/2012 21:45

Sorry SoupDragon.

Misjudged attempt to lighten things up. Sorry.

I would agree that name -bullying tends to centre around rhyming, poor old Jeremy Hunt style stuff. In my experience anyhow. Or Spoonerisms.

For the record, I'm not personally a huge fan of Phoenix either, I was only wanting to encourage the OP in chosing a name she loves rather than feeling confined to 'normal' ones because she might damage the child in some way.

Harrison I like the most out of all suggestions Smile

WineOhWhy · 30/03/2012 21:38

I know 2 harrisons shortened to Harry, although in one case always intended

seeker · 30/03/2012 21:37

Ooh, ooh, ooh- how about Zachary? Zac is fab. Isaac is fab too. Sebastian?

Dylan, Milesand Zac.
Dylan, Miles and Seb.

Janoschi · 30/03/2012 21:30

I agree that Harrison is unlikely to become Harry. If anything, maybe Harris... Or Sonny... Harry feels like a totally different name to me.

DairyNips · 30/03/2012 21:29

Not sure about Lachlan sorryGrin

Isaac, Finley and Bailey are nice although cant use Finley cause that's ds's best friend and Bailey is my nephew..

OP posts:
Doitnicelyplease · 30/03/2012 21:22

Agree with (most) of the other posters, your first two boys have lovely normal (not boring) quite simple names, to throw Phoenix in there for the third is odd, the name doesn't match and I would personally think 'try hard' if I heard it in the playground.

IMO these suggestions go better with your other choices...

Leo
Maxwell
Caleb
Samuel (v popular I know but Dylan, Miles and Sam sounds nice together)
Archie
Finley
Isaac (Zac for nn)
Tobias
Evan
Bailey
Reece
Sebastian (Seb is a cool nn)

HTH

seeker · 30/03/2012 21:12

Oh, please have Lachlan, I really like that idea now!

DairyNips · 30/03/2012 20:49

I'll have a rethink on that one then, we're pretty sure we'll use it either way, either for first or middleSmile

As said, the two I know haven't been. I don't know, but it just seems like Harry is such a different name it doesn't happen.
My DD has a name that I feared would be shortened to something which I didn't like, but I'm glad to say that as long as you announce it firmly, it doesn't.

DairyNips · 30/03/2012 20:45

I would be more willing to use Harrison if I was quite sure it'd stay Harrison..

OP posts:
1950sHousewife · 30/03/2012 20:41

I know 2 Harrisons and they've never been Harrys. It just doesn't seem to happen. I think it's a complete enough name that it doesn't seem to need to be shortened.
There's another thread about Delphine. That would definitely get shortened but Harrison...no.
Much much much prefer it to Phoenix. (which still seems to me very much a girls name)

DairyNips · 30/03/2012 20:38

Yeah.. There's always Harrison Phoenix but I reeeeally don't want Harrison shortened to HarryConfused

I will be forever Sad if you don't go with Jude tho! Grin
I love the name sooooo much........ Maybe I'll gag DH at birth if we have another boy tho don't think it sounds at all nice with DS1s name Sad

DairyNips · 30/03/2012 20:17

Lucas is niceSmile

Yeah we have a Scottish surname too although technically live in England (just)

OP posts:
BeaditAli · 30/03/2012 20:16

I got flamed on MN when I asked for opinions between two names...... We went with one of them which is MEGA popular but we adore it, it really suits our DS and I don't agree that a name determines your personality.
I think a main cause of 'name bullying' is if it rhymes with something.... It's a very easy and memorable tease fodder for children. can't really see children ridiculing Phoenix...... If you like it I wouldn't worry and am sure he'll grow into a fine young man Smile

seeker · 30/03/2012 20:15

Ah-a Scottish connection!

Dylan Miles and Lachlan

seeker · 30/03/2012 20:13

OP posts:
itdoesnthurttohavemanners · 30/03/2012 20:08

I love Dylan :) Do you mind if I ask, does he have a middle name? Also, do you call him Dyl for short?

Phoenix just reminds me of River Phoenix! Finn is good, what about Fergus? Or Jasper?

Ooh..it's hard!
