If you have a Lola...

...what age is she, what middle name did you use and what negative (and positive) connotations have you had in RL ?

I love the name and am aware of the Kinks, Barry Manilow and the Lolita book through MN, but wondered if that is perhaps a certain age thing as I would not automatically think that (age 30) I would more than likely think of Charlie and Lola...

Anything you can tell me will be bril!

Dgs's friend has an older brother called Charlie and a baby sister called Lola!

We've got Lola on our shortlist and are hoping to use my grandma's name as a middle name - Gabrielle.

WaftyCrank · 29/03/2012 19:39

Lola Mae, she's 3. Never had a bad comment about it and she's the only one I know.

I do still wish I'd called her Harriet but that's just because I love that name more.

If you like it then go for it. Stuff what other people think. Lots of people didn't get my DD1s name. Now they like it as it is more commonly used but when i named her it was considered rare and i received a few strange looks.

Lola Maria. We have never had a single bad comment, only positive ones, and she is the only one in her whole school.

My friend's DD is Lola Grace, she is 6. My friend has decided she now hates the name and they call her Gracie instead. Friend thinks the name has turned down market over the years. Also it suited Lola when she was a cute baby but she doesn't really suit it now. She is a very bright little girl, friend thinks her name will hold her back in life.

I will get flamed for this i know but where i live it is considered the dreaded ch word!
If this would bother you i would'nt go for it.

I know two Lolas. Dont know what their middle names are, I'm afraid.

I always think of Charlie and Lola.

Its a nice name, but in all honesty, I prefer Leila.

There are lots of similar names around - DD goes to nursery with a Lola. a Lila and a Leela.

If I've read your post right, you love Lola but are unsure about its connotations. If you decide against using it, you could consider using Lula - which could be a nickname for Louisa, Lucy or Tallulah or, I suppose, a name in its own right. Better formal forms than Dolores for Lola!
