Is Callum a naughty boys name...?

Latest addition to our playgroup. I like it a lot but DSis tells me, as a teacher, that it is a 'naughty boys name'.

Eh?? She has a list of such names and will happily reel them off at any opportunity.

Anyone know of this phenomena?

It's really nice to know that teachers judge children as naughty just because of their names.

Ha! My sister is a primary school teacher and she says her 'naughtiest names' are Callum (sorry!), Liam and Connor .

It's awful but as a teacher there are some names I would never have used for exactly this reason. I do think it's generational though and obviously not every kid with those names is naughty, but my 'naughty' names were:

Connor (no1 by a country mile)
Joshua (possibly changing now though)
Luke
Bradley

8 years ago I'd have said Daniel but not so much now.

Callum? I don't think it's firmly on the list!

There's no such thing as a naughty boys name. Except there sort of is. I've never met a well behaved Alfie for example. They exist of course, just not met them. It's certainly not a reason not to use a name, just personal experience of a name. See also Luke.

It's very common monist teachers though - they will have a mental list.
