I love it but unfortunately DH doesn't, so it was knocked off our shortlist. Sad Getting very popular, which may or may not make a difference to you, OP. Smile (Disclaimer: I have two boys with what I thought were reasonably not-common names. They turned out to be pretty well-used. I don't care though.)

i have a friend with a little boy called Arthur, i was a bit unsure at first but i love it and it suits him perfectly, its a lovely name :)

squoosh · 26/03/2012 13:44

I like it but have a compulsion upon hearing it to shour "ARRRRFA?" á la the woman with specs from On The Buses aka the creepist sitcom of all time.

I didn't grow up watching this and only saw it for the first time a couple of years ago. It's obviously made a big impression on me. Grin

emmyloo2 · 26/03/2012 13:40

Yes adore it. It is the name for my DS2 if I ever have one. Love Artie for a nickname. I already have a George. It is not very popular at all where I am from. In fact I suspect there would only be a few born every year.

Love love love it!

Clary · 26/03/2012 00:15

Yes I like it v much.

They say it is coming back but I know a lot of middle class DC and I only know two, one aged 12 and one aged 6.

nizlopi · 25/03/2012 18:36

One of my best friends is called Arthur, I love it, its a wonderful name. I think its becoming a bit popular now though, sort of like Alfie and Archie, although not quite as bad.

lovechoc · 25/03/2012 18:19

Know someone who called their DS Arthor. Not sure if that's the same or not?

FamiliesShareGerms · 25/03/2012 17:50

Love it, but my mum hated it (it was her dad's name) so we went with something else.

Check it works with your surname though, it's one of those names that can lead to unfortunate initials / nicknames

blondiep14 · 25/03/2012 17:41

I like. Considered it for DS2 but knew my Dad would say 'alf a, alf a brain cell' and it put me off!
