boy's name ending in a vowel?

Hi, we are struggling to decide on a boy's name. The front-runner at the moment is Louis, but there are issues with it being pronounced wrongly. It should sound like the French, ie Loo-ee. I know I oculd spell it Louie, but that just reminds me of Louie Spence and he annoys me!

I just read the name Milo on here, really like it but have yet to run it past DH! I would love any suggestions of names ending in a vowel sound, it just would go better with our surname which starts with an H.

Any help appreciated!

My DSis has a Louis and it rarely gets pronounced wrong.

What about Lawrie? (pronounced Lorree). I like Toby and Frankie too :)

kipperandtiger · 24/03/2012 02:40

Sorry, scratch George - just realised you wanted the sound. Basically, all the Italian names - Antonio, Mario, etc
(And of course Jiri is Czech for George.....then there's the Russian Yuri).
Bit harder if you prefer a name that's English in origin, rather than European or Hebrew!

kipperandtiger · 24/03/2012 02:38

Shlomo - although that is technically short for Solomon, but nothing to stop you using it.
Dario
Carlo

Dara (Irish) - if you spell it that way (as in Dara O'Briain, the comedian)
George
