We already have a Summer, Dylan and Lily. Do you think that Ava goes well with these names and what do you think of the name in general? x

Ava is a lovely name but it?s a little tired and frayed around the edges now, sorry if that sounds overly harsh.

It needs to be put back in its box for 40 years or so when it will emerge fresh and sparkling once more.

3boysgirlontheway · 26/03/2012 16:40

If you ever come to Ireland and call her name in a playground there will be 20 little girls turning their heads.
Pretty name but, very overused around here anyway.

winkle2 · 26/03/2012 16:37

Love it - and all your other children's names too.

Kaekae · 26/03/2012 10:51

Nice but just so overdone find it quite boring now.

sugarcookie5 · 26/03/2012 02:16

I love Ava. Its a gorgeous girls name and if it feels right to you, go for it, dont let the fact its popular deter you. It just sounds lovely. I was at my friends house this afternoon playing with her darling daughter Ava and just calling to her sounded adorable, I think its classy and timeless!

UmmOfUmbridge · 26/03/2012 00:25

I have a Lily and an Ava. I think it's beautiful and I haven't met many others, mine is two and I know it's really popular but as I say, I've come across several at soft play etc.. But don't 'know' any others. Go for it if you love it.

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 24/03/2012 21:28

It certainly reaches across all classes in this area.

suebfg · 24/03/2012 20:55

I think Ava is lovely as it is - never heard of it as a nickname

thirdfromleft · 24/03/2012 20:53

I love it. One option is to go for a longer version with Ava as a nickname, e.g. Avanthia. That way you have options.

suebfg · 24/03/2012 20:51

Love the name Ava - I was going to call my baby that but had a boy!

Sandalwood · 24/03/2012 20:51

Ava Banana's got a certain ring to it.

LexieSinclair · 24/03/2012 20:49

I think it's lovely. I keep hearing how popular it is but I don't know of any so I guess it depends where you live. I think it's beautiful and very classic.

manicinsomniac · 24/03/2012 18:14

I think it's pretty

Popular yes, but who cares if you like it. Names are generally popular for a reason.

Wouldn't say it was a middle class cliche though? - Ava seems a common choice across all sections of society.

shesparkles · 24/03/2012 00:23

It's lovely -as are all your other children's names.
I only know of 1 Ava

BackforGood · 24/03/2012 00:19

It's a pretty name, but has been used a LOT recently. Fine, if you are happy with that.

lazylula · 24/03/2012 00:10

It was on my short list and had dh not suddenly agreed to Erin 3 days before I had dc3, then she probably would have been Ava although one of my reservations was it has become very popular. As it happens when I had dd Ava just didn't suit her!

BeckyBrandonNeeBloomwood · 23/03/2012 23:41

It has been very popular in recent years, but I love it! It's my absolute fave name and I'm still determined to use it for my 1st DD. If you like it and the popularity doesn't bother you, go for it! It's beautiful and feminine and goes really well with your other DCs names! X

scottishmummy · 23/03/2012 23:32

middle class cliche
no
unless you like obvious names

TerrierMalpropre · 23/03/2012 23:24

It's a cliche here. 1 in 3 little girls is called Ava.

Lepreporn · 23/03/2012 23:13

Love it. Very popular. But what's wrong with that.

SodoffBaldrick · 23/03/2012 23:10

I used to think it was lovely.

WipsGlitter · 23/03/2012 22:30

Very, very popular.

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 23/03/2012 22:27

Done. To. Death.

scarlettsmummy2 · 23/03/2012 22:10

Was extremely popular three years ago when I had my first daughter, but I think it is lovely apart from that.

blackcoffee · 23/03/2012 22:07

ubiquitous, widespread, common
