I'm looking for girls names which link in to 'green' somehow. The colour, not environmentalism!
Any ideas? I can only think of Jade....

What beautiful names on this thread!

Gingersnap88 · 20/03/2012 15:30

Midori (green in Japanese) Grin

SodoffBaldrick · 20/03/2012 06:53

You could play a bit fast and loose and go for trees which flower in spring / early summer, like Magnolia, Jacaranda, Cherry...

SodoffBaldrick · 20/03/2012 06:50

Who rattled your cage, rubmeup?

OP - so, your DH agreed to move off Juno, then?! Wink How did you persuade him in the end?

I know of someone who called their DD Ilana as her (the Mum's) maiden name was Tree. It's a lovely name.

LaTristesse · 20/03/2012 06:37

Well that put an end to that! Thanks for all your lovely suggestions ladies...

weed?

rubmeup · 19/03/2012 16:32

algae?

treesprite · 19/03/2012 16:07

Laura and Lauren are connected to the laurel plant, I believe.

rubmeup · 19/03/2012 15:43

No its not

lottiegb · 19/03/2012 15:32

My eyes are hazel, they are light brown with a yellowy tinge. Could have hints of grey or green, not compulsory. Not sure why they're being co-opted onto a thread about green things, surely shome misunderstanding.

Hazel is a nice name though (and tree, green leaves, brown nuts, yellow pollen).

rubmeup · 19/03/2012 15:14

....or just tatoo the words "bully me" on her forehead

belgo · 19/03/2012 15:11

Hazel eyes are brown with green flecks. Or green with brown flecks.

LaTristesse · 19/03/2012 15:05

Oo, Sorrel is lovely... Will put that one to DH.

Our best friend has a Willow and a Poppy, and Flora has been vetoed by DH already so those are out I'm afraid, although I do like them lots.

Flora

Snapespeare · 19/03/2012 12:18

Luckily 'Wicked' came out after DD was born, or we may have had a baby Elphie!

Cheshire it's prounounced El-fah-bah and is the 1st name of the wicked witch of the west in the book/musical, 'Wicked'. It derives from the author of teh 'Wizard of Oz' L. Frank Baum = elphaba. :)

Marrow · 19/03/2012 12:16

How about Sorrel? I love it but Dh vetoed it for DD unfortunately.

DerbysKangaskhan · 19/03/2012 12:11

Olivine (a beautiful green gemstone)

BikeRunSki · 19/03/2012 12:11

I know a 3yo girl whose middle name is Green.

CheshireDing · 19/03/2012 12:02

Willow is lovely and these days not too unusual I don't think. Rosemary is lovely too. I know you said she would be born in Spring but would it be too odd to call her Summer then?? Or as already mentioned Blossom.

I love the really feminine girly foliage names, but then I have a Poppy Grin so am biased.

How do you pronounce Elphaba? Is the ph and f? It sounds Roman/Latin.

Ilovemyscrumples · 19/03/2012 11:53

Mya? Apparently the african meaning of Mya is emerald.

MadameChinLegs · 19/03/2012 11:18

Blush I wanted Elphaba (nn Elfie) but DH was having none of it.

hubbahubster · 19/03/2012 08:49

If you're ok with plant/tree names how about...

Ivy/Iva
Larch
Tansy

Yarkona means green but it's not very pretty... Phyllis also means 'little green branch' but is kinda old ladyish! Laverna means 'born in spring'. Or how about April or May?

FilterCoffee · 18/03/2012 22:59
