Heard a couple of these recently -

Harry / Henry
John / Jack
Isabella / Belle (seriously)

Really??!!!

Do people not realise one is a nickname for the other?!!!

Rearranged letters - i was at school with a Silvia, whose little sister was Aivlis . Apparently Silvia wanted the new baby to share her name, but the parents thought reversing it was the best they could do.

Footprints - I remember the Grange Hill twins! Although I also (sadly) remember that one of them was in it for ages, and then her sister came in.. They kept referring to her as "Nat" so that there was a hilarious mistaken identity storyline when the sister arrived at the school (she hadn't previously mentioned her identical twin)...

Anyway..

I used to know a Tanya (pronounced Tar-nia) with a sister Talia.. Always thought it was a bit odd..

Red and Ruby, sister and brother.

vitaminC · 15/03/2012 22:15

Oh yes, the rearranged letters: my xh's gf was Noel and had a brother Leon (same word backwards!) :)

Chinese names can be very close between family members, too - I knew a Lindsey Ong, whose brother was Lyndon Ong. And two brothers called Wai Tak Tai and Wai Ton Tai!
