How would you pronounce Rohan?

Like Rowan or would you manifest the H?

And if you do pronounce the H, is it Ro-HAWN or Roe-HAN? I would assume when pronouncing the H you put the accent on the second syllable?

Eep. I like the look of the name and wonder what most people would initially view it to be pronounced as.

I wouldn't pronounce the h but it is different to Rowan

Rowan = Row unn, with the emphasis on the o
Rohan = Row ann, with the emphasis on the ann

HeidiHole · 10/03/2012 08:59

same as rowan

DonInKillerHeels · 10/03/2012 08:54

Yes, but Middle Earth is a made-up country....

EmmaCate · 10/03/2012 08:49

Tolkein says Roe-Han. As a name I would probably assume Rowan until corrected.

chickensaregreen · 10/03/2012 08:47

I thought Roe Han until I said it out loud and then decided on Rowan.

DonInKillerHeels · 10/03/2012 08:45

Rowan, unless you are Indian, in which case the Indian name (totally unrelated in meaning but the same letters in English) is pronounced with the h.

FilterCoffee · 10/03/2012 08:44

Same as Rowan.

WandaDoff · 10/03/2012 05:03

I thought ROE-HAN as well.

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 10/03/2012 05:02

Roe-HAN. Why put a w in if there is none? (an as in can)

TheCatInTheHairnet · 10/03/2012 04:55

Unless you're Scandinavian....

TheCatInTheHairnet · 10/03/2012 04:54

Row-un. So, yes. Rowan.
