What do people think of this name?

I really like it but I wondered if people thought it was going to become hugely popular or not? It's not really a problem if it does though! I just wondered if people knew any Caleb's? I notice it's jumped from being 104th most popular in 2009 to 87th in 2010 which is a big jump.

I did post a while back about the name Roscoe. I think people might think this is a slight improvement :)

And what on earth might that be? Angry

CaoNiMa · 08/03/2012 06:03

It's a teenage mum kind of name.

shockers · 07/03/2012 22:53

married just tried to work out your anagram but I've had a glass of wine and the lead has snapped in my pencil....?

Charleybear · 07/03/2012 22:48

I love it, was my boys choice for DD.
Did you watch desperate housewives? Wasn't there a Caleb in it a long time ago who was either kept in the basement or kept his brother in the basement, perhaps thats where the dark and sinister images come from?

marriednotdead · 07/03/2012 22:43

Know of a Caleb born last month Smile

Always looks like an anagram to me!

Bibblebobbleparsnip · 07/03/2012 22:38

It's quite popular round here. I help run a toddler group & think there are 2, also know of at least one more. Am "up north" and haven't heard it mispronounced. Lovely name though.

Piccalilli2 · 07/03/2012 22:06

I love Caleb. Unusual but not freaky weird.

AThingInYourLife · 07/03/2012 21:58

I love the name Caleb. Just love it.

Clawdy · 07/03/2012 21:53

Definitely Cay-leb.

HolyNoSheDittantBatman · 07/03/2012 21:51

I'd say 'Cay-leb'

BorderDancer · 07/03/2012 21:50

Cay-leb if you're the Caleb that's married to my friend. They're Canadian so it sounds good with their accent!

I like it, but only spelled that way. The chavs spell it a dozen different ways, it became popular up here a few years ago. Half the so called bonny baby boys had it as a name spelled in various guises

rachel234 · 07/03/2012 21:44

How DO you pronounce it? I'd say Cah-leb.

timetosmile · 07/03/2012 21:34

Think about the pronunciation, depending on where you live.
Here 'ooop North it would end up with a short 'a' like cat not 'ay' like hay. Don't know if you'd mind!
Beautiful name though.

mumofjust1 · 07/03/2012 21:31

LOVE the name Caleb!

Would use it if I had a ds Smile

Winkly · 07/03/2012 21:30

Yes creepy kid from American Gothic, sorry.

Clawdy · 07/03/2012 21:25

Caleb does not mean "dog",the hebrew word for that is "celeb"(yes, weird,I know!) Caleb means "wholehearted".

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your replies :)

I had no idea about Caleb from Kings of Leon! Doh. I didn't know it means dog either. Double doh. I know nothing. Kings of Leon might account for its sudden popularity. Most people are positive and as it's a name we both like (finally) I think we'll probably go for it.

Cheers for your opinions peeps :)

I know of one. It's nice enough but not to my taste.

tummytickler · 07/03/2012 19:58

I love the name Caleb! It reminds me of the spooky kid in the show American Gothic though, although that was on tv over 15 years ago so most people wont remember it.
There was one at our church Summer Club, who was about 8, but I have never met another. It's lovely. Was on my list 10 years ago but we went with something different.

ipanicked · 07/03/2012 19:14

I just can't get past the fact it means dog. Other that that it's a lovely name. I guess it's only a problem if you care about the meaning of names Smile

Tooblunt2012 · 07/03/2012 19:12

I love it!

ashlee91 · 07/03/2012 19:11

Clareypen · 07/03/2012 18:54
