DD2 due any day. Posted previously with our shortlist and got some good suggestions. My mum reckons 3 syllable names work best with our 1 syllable surname and I think she might be right but our shortlist are all 2 syllable.

So to give you a flavour of the kind of names we like...

DD1 is Joely Peggy B_

Shortlist for DD2 includes:
Polly
Posy
Edie
Elspeth

Middle names (none of which we want to use as first names):
Adelaide
Rosalind
Cecelia

Can you suggest some 3 syllable names along the same lines? Be very grateful!!!

Lilian - not sure

Catherine - just know too many and too many different spellings
Emily - see above
Alexa - can't use "A" names
Bryony - this was on the list at one point but neither of us into it enough really

God, it's hard naming children I think. I feel like I've heard every name under the sun and still nothing really leaping out.

Eleanor - DH loves this but I'm not keen
Jessica - another cousin's daughter's name!
Emily - bit close to my name
Amelia - do love this but good friend's daughter is called this and it's an "A" again, so can't really use
Helena - not keen
Sophia - see above
Miriam - I do like this but does it seem a bit fuddy duddy?
Natasha - couldn't with DD1 being called Joely. The only other Joely I know of is Joely Richardson whose sister was called Natasha
Natalie - don't like, don't know why!

Thanks all, these are really helpful. I will put some of them on the table tonight and see what DH thinks.

Violet - I love this but we can't have colour names with our surname
Clementine - also love this and had it on the list for a while, but can't get past the fact that in the song, Clementine drowns. Ridiculous I know, but still can't use it!
Sophia - nothing wrong with this but somehow isn't 'us'
Marina - don't really like this
Francesca - this was also on our list but (and I'm really outing myself now) if it got shortened to Frankie then DD2 would have the name of a well known, controversial comedian
Sylvia - doesn't seem quite right
Rebecca - cousin's daughter's name
Cassandra - knew a horrible girl called this years ago, so couldn't
Aurora - too out there for us
Eloise - I do like this one, was on the list for DD1
Iona - bit Scottish for me
Serena - no
Delilah - no
Josephine - too close to DD1's name
Millicent - quite like this one! Never even considered it
Abigail - another cousin's daughter's name!
Naomi - no
Estella - bit out there

I'd use the traditional spelling of Cecilia - one reason not to use this as first name (other than DH isn't v keen, although I love it) is that I always hesitate when I come to write it and can't nb if it's Cecilia or Cecelia!

Josephine - too much like DD1 who is Joely

Hilary - I quite like this
Arianna - not keen, and "A" names aren't great with our surname
Leonie - too lion-y
Miranda - not sure why, but just not keen
Juliet - too much like Joely again
Mariette - makes me think of marionette
Vanessa - not sure
Stephanie- not sure

Food for thought though, thanks
