Flower names for a May baby?

Hi, I'm expecting my first baby in May ( though it is end of May so could go into June )and if it's a girl I'd quite like a 'flowery' name. Would like it to be seasonal too so does anyone know any plants that flower in May/June? I really like Iris but can't think of any more? Except bluebell!! Possible middle name Christine ( family name ).

Following on from what TheSecondComing said, the Welsh version of May ihs Mai, a really pretty name, pronounced 'my'.

Jonquil?

It's a kind of daffodil - I've heard it used as a name, one of the more unusual flower names and I rather like it.

A little oblique, but the Italian for May is Maggio, so could you do something around Margaret, Margo, Maggie etc.

Cydonia · 03/03/2012 22:55

Lots of lovely names, thanks ladies. I had looked at Jasmine already. A complicating factor is that I work with animals so it has to not remind me of any previous patients! And May is out unfortunately as it rhymes with our surname.

My daughter is a May baby and we called her Jasmine. The white jasmine is flowering then as my parents bought one into the hospital the day she was born, and the smell now reminds me of the day she was born :)

Lilac for a girl but it's a bit out there. Or how about Willow for a boy?

TheOneWithTheHair · 03/03/2012 18:21

There are trees for girls too. Holly or Cherry. Bit stuck on boys though. Sorry. :)

Cydonia · 03/03/2012 18:14

I totally agree Percy, I love the time of year which is why I fancied a 'seasonal' name. Now what could I use if its a boy? Flowers don't really work, other plants or trees maybe? Herbs?! Hmmmmm

Cow Parsley :o my favourite, it fills the banks and lanes with white froth. Anthriscus sylvestris, Queen Anne's Lace, any help there?

May is a time of white lacy flowers in the countryside, the blossom, the may, , Jack-in-the-hedge, stitchwort, wild garlic and at the end, moving into June, the elderflowers. The most beautiful time.

Wow thank you, that's given me some more to think about!
