Willow - really love the idea and the soft sound of it, but a bit of a risk as a first name because in lots of people it evokes quite a specific image of the child. Think it works best as a mn.

Molly - dull. Have taught dozens in the last five years or so.

Tabitha - really like this, and would consider it for a dd. Dislike the obvious nickname Tabby, though.

Lola - can't never get past thinking showgirl, or Charlie and... And I think it's been overdone now.

Chloe - has had its day. Pretty much every class I've ever taught in has had at least one Chloe. And my childhood cat was Chloe, so it does seem to be a bit of a feline name!

TerrorNova · 02/03/2012 10:53

Oh and yes also about Sarah Palin and Willow from Buffy too.

TerrorNova · 02/03/2012 10:53

Surely Willow isn't 'quite unusual'. I agree with another poster it's American. Everyone knows who Willow Smith of Whip of Hair fame, I'd thought.

Rhubarbgarden · 02/03/2012 09:08

I really like Tabitha and Willow. I really dislike the others.

SlinkingOutsideInFrocks · 02/03/2012 08:07

  • Tabitha
  • All the rest.......... Wink

I don't think Tabitha's amazing, but I do think it is the one that will best (by far) carry her into adulthood.

Willow - meh. Sarah Palin has one. Enough said.
Molly - yawn. Really, just yawn...
Lola - will date so, so badly. Plus, it is just such a fluffy, no-substance name
Chloe - so 8 years ago...

diddl · 02/03/2012 07:25

Chloe.

HardCheese · 02/03/2012 06:25

I like Molly and Tabitha very much - Tabitha would have been on our shortlist if our baby to be was a girl. Neutral on Willow, and don't care for the other two. Chloe in particular feels a bit passé to me for some reason - I seem to know quite a few teenage Chloes, which is perhaps why...

yellowflowers · 01/03/2012 23:32

All lovely except Lola surely a nickname not fullname and Willow great unless she turns out to be short and fat ie not willowy

Crazytictac · 01/03/2012 22:38

Tabitha- not over used but not wacky either. I like it.

Molly - hmm, quite nice. Always imagine Molly's to be pretty little girls.

Lola - bit indifferent to this one. Doesn't seem like a "proper name" IYSWIM.

Chloe - I know a lot of cats called this so puts me off.

Willow - bit American for my liking.

ZenNudist · 01/03/2012 22:28

Chloe is lovely, I'm not a fan of the rest...

SecondhandRose · 01/03/2012 22:23

Sorry I also thought Tabitha was a cats name but thought it was too rude to say it but now the others have said it I hope you dont mind me saying it too. (ducks for cover).

FilterCoffee · 01/03/2012 22:13

Willow or Chloe are my favourites by a long way :)

Willow - very pretty, quite unusual
Chloe - very nice
Molly - OK, would use as nickname for Mary
Lola - not keen

Littlecherublegs · 01/03/2012 22:02

EdithWeston · 01/03/2012 22:00

I think Tabitha is lovely, and also like Molly and Lola.

sum04 · 01/03/2012 21:58

Out of all the names i think Lola sounds the nicest shortened..
We have a surname which pretty much goes with any name, so i dont see a prob there.

Have you tried each out with your surname and also as their shortened or lengthened versions? I must admit I think about them when they are older and in high flying jobs and have listed them accordingly!
