How many girls do you know with the name Iris?

Just curious as it will make no difference as we are set on it.

I haven't met one yet, although we live in a fairly rural area.

Two - my dd and the dd of acquaintance who randomly had an iris one week before mine was born! They are both 2 and it is very sweet when they meet!

LaLoose · 28/02/2012 16:19

It's a lovely name, BUT the reason it didn't make it to the top of my shortlist when I had my little girl is that - as gardeners will know - irises (the flowers) are very short-lived... that put me RIGHT off!

Beamur · 28/02/2012 13:35

No children.
One great aunt.
I love it and considered using it myself. DP less keen though.

ragged · 28/02/2012 13:33

Two, one is about 10 & the other is about 3.

Kaekae · 27/02/2012 23:13

When I was a kid one of my neighbours was called this and I really disliked the name, seemed dated at the time. However, I love it now a friend of mine named her baby this five years ago and she's the only one I know.

Bibbo · 27/02/2012 17:29

something tells me we'll be seeing Iris in the top 100 names list soon...

can't get over how many have decided on Elizabeth for a middle name though

very odd!

Bibbo · 27/02/2012 17:23

oooh coincidence... we have Iris Elizabeth earmarked for dd2 when she arrives in June/July! Elizabeth is my mother's middle name - don't know any other Irises but I love Irish Murdoch

Fourlotsoftrouble · 27/02/2012 17:20

We had Iris Elizabeth as our name for our baby if a girl...it was a beautiful boy!

HoldTouchEngage · 27/02/2012 14:32

Quite simpy NONE! Smile and i have lived in 2 very different areas in the last 12 months! x

typicalvirgo · 27/02/2012 14:30

I know just one Iris and she is a lovely 15 year old.

I think its a beautiful name and wish i had called my DD Iris 15 years ago !

MamaLazarou · 27/02/2012 14:27

I've never met an Iris. It's a beautiful name. Sadly, it always reminds me of the child prostitute in Taxi Driver, otherwise I would have considered using it.

Ihatepeas · 27/02/2012 11:38

I don't know any little girls called iris! I think its gorgeous! On our list for dc1.

Theas18 · 27/02/2012 11:02

2, 1 small and 1 in DD2 class (aged 12/13)

CPtart · 27/02/2012 10:45

Two. One of 60 and one of 5years old.

xmybabiesrmyallx · 27/02/2012 10:34

Hi, I know only x1 Iris with a sister called Violet. Lovely names x

TheEpilator · 27/02/2012 10:22

3 all babies, so I think its definitely on the rise popularity-wise.

Bear in mind with any popular name (as I have found - grrr!) that although you like it, your DD will always be known as Iris A or Iris B (or the even worse variations of 'little Iris' and 'big Iris'!)

HardCheese · 27/02/2012 10:14

One, and she's 39 or 40. Lovely name.

SubOptiMum · 27/02/2012 08:49

Iris is my 7week old DD's name

Cutelittlecatlover · 27/02/2012 08:47

None but I'm seriously considering it for dd due in April! Its gorgeous and I love that she would have the same name as the goo goo dolls song.

saffronwblue · 27/02/2012 08:40

One French- would be in her late teens now. Gorgeous name.

Puremince · 27/02/2012 08:34

I don't know any.

SamsGoldilocks · 27/02/2012 08:21

A really gutsy 6 year old. :)

AThingInYourLife · 27/02/2012 07:13

2 - one German woman in her 30s, one 3 year old

I love it.

puzzletree · 27/02/2012 07:09

I know one, a toddler. Love the name!

KikiRC · 27/02/2012 00:14

One aged about 2 and one in her mid-fifties (I'm in the South East).
