All the way through we have said we will have primrose if the baby is a girl but we are now wavering and edging more towards Elsa, my only worry is that Elsa may become popular, which would you go for?

Just imagine yourself shouting the name across the playground, in front of the other mums. Do you feel ok? Then use it. Do you feel shame? Don't use it. :)

Elsa is really lovely, and not too popular. Primrose is a bit twee and over the top IMO.

PestoPenguin · 27/02/2012 17:19

I guess she could always just call herself Rosie.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 27/02/2012 17:13

Elsa. Primrose is fine when you're 5 but abit Blush when you're 15.

mrsshears · 27/02/2012 17:10

Thanks everyone, its really funny to hear how people visualise the person with one of these names Grin
I'm surprised that noone mentioned the darling buds of may as that seems to be the first reaction from friends and family.I'm still not sure, i think dh is heading more towards Elsa but i'm still a bit in the middle.

Primrose is terrible. I see a larger middle aged lady in an 80's style Laura Ashley frock, perspiration on her brow, baking 100 Victoria sandwiches for the village fete.

Elsa would be lithe and lovely, maybe a smidge aloof but you wouldn't mind because she's so very cool.

PercyFilth · 27/02/2012 14:58

Primrose is awful. Perhaps it's the 'prim' bit. All disapproving and buttoned-up.

Sarcalogos · 27/02/2012 14:53

Elsa much nicer. Primrose is a bit hyacinth for me iykwim!

HoldTouchEngage · 27/02/2012 14:51

Sorry i meant on the other hand Violet doesn't remind me of that cartoon, and i can imagine a girl / lady of any age called Violet!

HoldTouchEngage · 27/02/2012 14:50

Elsa - i think it sounds timeless and would suit a girl / lady of any age, it's cute but very strong and 'grown up' too!

Primrose really does just remind me of Fifi. And i coulnd't imagine a lady in her 30's / 40's / 50's of that name!

On the other hand though Violet doesn't - how strange?

PestoPenguin · 27/02/2012 00:02

Elsa. Primrose is a bit twee.

BuntyPenfold · 26/02/2012 23:59

I like Primrose, not keen on Elsa.

dancingonthinice · 26/02/2012 22:27

Primrose.

mayanna123 · 26/02/2012 22:25

Another vote for Primrose - classic, timeless name that sounds very refreshing compared to all the little Evie, Molly, Lillies. Elsa is nice too but sounds more nicknamey and less classy.

tummytickler · 26/02/2012 21:14

Primrose!
I love Primrose! Elsa is lovely too, but I prefer Primrose. I know one of each.

threecurrantbuns · 26/02/2012 19:55

Elsa love Elsie aswell

Camerondiazepam · 26/02/2012 19:18

The Home and Away character was Ailsa, not Elsa, no?

Anyway, Elsa every time, it's not popular at all. In a good way, I mean Grin

FilterCoffee · 26/02/2012 19:14

Primrose much nicer. Elsa sounds frumpy.

Jess850 · 26/02/2012 18:55

Elsa is lovely but go with your feelings when she arrives :-)

HolyNoSheDittantBatman · 26/02/2012 18:44

Elsa.

The only Primrose I know is a labrador.

I only know one Elsa, she's about 18 months old and very sweet. It does remind me of Home and Away, but that's no reason to not use it.

sarimillie · 26/02/2012 18:18

Another vote for Elsa - it's both pretty and noble, and suits the little lioness I know!

SlinkingOutsideInFrocks · 26/02/2012 18:04

Oh my goodness no competition - Elsa, Elsa, Elsa. Gorgeous name.

Are you seriously considering Primrose as a first name?! Middle name if you must, but otherwise...

HettyKett · 26/02/2012 17:43

Elsa

debijon11 · 26/02/2012 17:37

Elsa is the name that my partner and I have decided on if baby no 4 is a girl. I think it is a lovely name not too popular, but not too outrageoous for my old-fshioned in-laws to get there heads around. (Named my son Harvey, they hated the name and boy did they let me know that they hated it) .

I only know two other Elsas , a lady in her 60's and a teenage girl.

Have you thought of Elsa Primrose if you like the both names?

LaFilleSurLePont · 26/02/2012 15:33

Definitely Elsa.Elsa is lovely. Primrose is horrid.
