Thinking about the names, Annabel would also be suitable because it is purely a girl's name whereas Harriet and Claudia are feminine versions of boys' names.

Would another strong and long yet feminine name work even if it didn't start with a vowel? What I was thinking of was Harriet Penelope Claudia, that sort of lightens up the whole sequence but still has some substance to it.

I agree mathanxiety, that is exactly what I wanted to say but worded in a much better way than I could have put it!

Harriet and Claudia are very tough names to sandwich something in between. I think your choice of Annabel is ideal since the A sound echoes the A sound of Harriet and the syllables are balanced. Claudia is imo a very strong name and a wispy sounding name in front of it would be lost, but would also strangely enough run the risk of making Claudia look very tacked-on-at-the-end, giving a 'child named by committee' impression of the naming process.

Alexandrine or Alexis might work too.

Putting Harriet first and Claudia second with another name last would be easier imo.

I don't know. I might suggest that she lurks and tries to spot something. With names, I've always thought that all the rules in the world won't come up with the right name - you have to really love a name and then it won't matter if it's not the right number of syllables or whatever.

Thanks ladies, there is a really good list of suggestions for her upthread.

It is, isn't it? though I think she knows a little terror called Annabel - it's such a shame when lovely names have bad associations.

I know there are - It needs to go in between Harriet and Claudia and be pleasing to the ear. Annabel is what I am basing this on, because it sounds right and I love it, but it has been rejected.
