We just can't decide on a girls name! I like traditional/old and slightly unusual/quirky.

Hi, we've have a little girl called Lucy and if we have a boy, he'll be Oliver. We've loved that name forever!
We just can't decide on a girls name. There are so many we like, but none of them really stand out as our favourate. Here is our list.

Amelia
Tabitha
Bryony- (this is step sisters name, but we hardlyever see each other)
Lavinia- (not sure)
Seren
Cora

Emily
Grace- (DH likes more than me)
Merryn- (we like but none of the family do) Sad

If you can think of any along these lines please let me know, and please be honest about my list of choices. Smile
I like names that can be shortened to something nice too.

My DH has said he prefers Emily to Amelia.

Thanks everyone. Smile It seems as if Emily and Amelia are nice safe bets. Wink I do still like Tabitha and I'm not really bothered about the cat link. (Saying that, she might not like it).

Amelia, Emily and Grace are my favourites of your list. Like Millie as short for Amelia too, or Serena instead of Seren.

Tabitha - cat
Bryony - too masculine (Brian)
Lavinia - not keen
Seren - faddy, but like Serena
Cora - apple corer
Merryn - not keen

I love elsie would have had it for my dd but got overruled :-( I think its old but a bit different.

cece · 19/02/2012 12:36

I think it is lovely and underused these days. Also really love the name John as well. Smile

chuffingalong · 19/02/2012 12:19

Cece- my daughter chose Jane when I asked her what her favourate girls name is. So maybe! Smile

Ahhh, that's a shame I know its very hard choosing a name when it has associations that are negative.

We are struggling to find a boys name this time, DH plays rugby so you can imagine how many are vetoed before a list can even be started! Most of his team mates have derogatory nn's as you can imagine, we have nothing!!!

This is our 4th DC,and 22nd Grandchild in our joint families which kind of narrows our options as well!

Lucy and Harriet
Lucy and Charlotte
Lucy and Helena
Lucy and Emma
Lucy and Nicole
Lucy and Josie

Lucy and Clara
Lucy and Sara/Sarah

Eleanor was the name of my bully at primary school. It is a lovely name, but it doesn't have good memories for me. Sad

No that's fine. I'm going off them myself. I think they sound a bit harsh.
I like Millie (short for Amelia) and Alice is lovely too. Smile

Eleanor, nn Ella, Nell, Nora, Elle.

I am bias as its my DD's name, I suggest it as top of my list for girls names is Lucy,nn Lulu! Grin

I think they go quite well together.

Off your list I think my fave would be Seren x

tildaandarchiesmummy · 19/02/2012 11:46

I know sisters called Lucy and Emily, i think its a nice match.

Don't mean to be rude, but i really don't like Lavinia, Seren, Cora or Merryn.

What about:
Millie
Harriet
Molly
Ella
Rosie
Louisa
Maisy
Mae
Alice
Evie
Eva
Eve

Lucy and Grace sound nice together, called called her Gracie for nn, i think Lucy and Amelia also go nicely together.

chuffingalong · 19/02/2012 11:46

I do like Kitty, but it'd have to be short for Cathrine.
I love Martha but our sirname would sound awful with it. For the same reason, Isobel is out.

MuffinTheMilf · 19/02/2012 11:43

I like most on your list except for Grace.
What about:

Alexandra
Katy
Kitty
Martha
Isobel
Jemima
Jenna
