We just can't decide on a girls name! I like traditional/old and slightly unusual/quirky.

Hi, we've have a little girl called Lucy and if we have a boy, he'll be Oliver. We've loved that name forever!
We just can't decide on a girls name. There are so many we like, but none of them really stand out as our favourate. Here is our list.

Amelia
Tabitha
Bryony- (this is step sisters name, but we hardlyever see each other)
Lavinia- (not sure)
Seren
Cora

Emily
Grace- (DH likes more than me)
Merryn- (we like but none of the family do) Sad

If you can think of any along these lines please let me know, and please be honest about my list of choices. Smile
I like names that can be shortened to something nice too.

Grace is a beautiful name, not sure about Tabitha. Oliver is a lovely name - although my nephew is called Oliver and he's adorable so i might be biased!

I know what yo mean. Olivia used to be very unusual but it's quite popular now. Still lovely though. I know 2 Olivias and they are both gorgeous both in looks and personality.
I get fed up of hearing people calling their dogs Lucy. (How bloody dare they!!) Grin

Kaekae · 27/02/2012 19:46

I know a

I have a 4 year old Oliver love it but it is just SO popular wished I gone for something else at times, getting bored of hearing it everywhere.

Blx2thelotofem · 24/02/2012 14:34

Merryn. Hearing that name makes me feel happy. Not sure why.

4madboys · 24/02/2012 12:34

yes go for merryn as long as you dont live near me!! Grin we love it and dd is now getting called merry by her brothers :) we dont know any others, in the year dd was born (dec 2010) there were only 30 merryns registered, so its not very popular but no unusual enough to be 'odd' iykwim? :)

chuffingalong · 24/02/2012 11:59

We do like to give nick names, but don't like Al or Allie at allie at all.
Saying that, Lucy is often refered to as Tink. Grin

Thank you. Smile I do love Merry for short too. It's very unusual.

At the moment, I think it's between Merryn and Alice, but that could change.

MrsLevinson · 24/02/2012 10:19

I think Merryn is lovely! Don't let your families put you off, they will grow to like it in time.
I also love Alice, Isla and Amy.

chuffingalong · 24/02/2012 09:58

I do like Megan. This was my grandmas name. Smile My DH doesn't like it though. I did mention it to him when we were expecting Lucy.

Nancy is sweet. My SIL is expecting a Hannah, so that's out. Sophia is also lovely and was my great grandmas name.

chuffingalong · 23/02/2012 21:05

That's o.k then. We don't live in wales. Both my Grandmas were welsh though, so it'd be nice to have a welsh name.
