Sister for Archie with a very Scottish surname

DD will be nameless at this rate so I need a nice name which will go with our mc Scottish surname and sits nicely with Archie.
So far I like holly and Isla and dh likes Mary.

Any advances? Mary reminds me of an old aunt. Holly... not sure if a summer baby should be named with a christmassy name?

What do you all think? I love Molly but dh vetoed as had a dog called this.

Isobel - Scots spelling.

I teach a Floraidh- pronounced Florrie, but Scots sp. Lovely name. Goes nicely with Archie.

Congratulations and good luck!

Archie and Emma?

pictish · 20/02/2012 13:52

It's not a popular one, but I still like Morag.

Littlecherublegs · 20/02/2012 13:47

I know an Archie with a sister called Anya which I think is lovely.

Also like Isla, Iona, Orla, Maya, Martha, Maisy, Daisy, Cora, Cara.

Not keen on Holly or Mary though.

Actually, even though I don't like the name Isobel much, it does go rather well with Archie... or Christobel?

I used to have a friend called Ishbel, a Scottish version of Isabel.
I always liked it, never had a girl though.

PandaG · 20/02/2012 13:18

Rowan is lovely. But we would pronounce it rowan is an having a big row and my relatives down there would say row as in boat.

Holly is a lovely name, and fine for a summer baby.

Maisie does go very well with Archie. Hmm.

Name doesn't have to be Scottish itself just go with a long mc surname.

I think Isla might becoming out on top. Iona is one of my mums friends and she is a bit stern.
