Hideously phrased title, hope you get what I mean

manicinsomniac · 17/02/2012 21:55

Op, you know A LOT of children!

6 years in teaching plus a year's training = 5 different schools, 2 of them large ones.

From DD's class list:

Girls

T'Kiya
Veda
Joelle
Mo'nique
Kyra
Carmen

Boys

Junior
Wilf
Looton (I wish I was joking...)
Seun (pronounced Sean)

Also lots of Asian/African names which are probably well-known and well-used but which I've never heard of before!

My sister was at university with a Cal who turned out to be called Caligula (not surprised he wouldn't admit to it til graduation) - I think that's slightly too unique!

YankNCock · 17/02/2012 21:44

Boys:
Louis
Hayden
Ryan
Sebastian

Girls:
Chloe
Martha
Gabriella
Keira-Lily

Most aren't that unusual, I think I don't know many kids (however, I am up to my ears in kids named Emily and Harry!)

morethanyoubargainfor · 17/02/2012 21:38

I, like jelly cat just searched and found another MN'er with a ds who is exactly the same age as my ds with the same name!

PoohBearsHole · 17/02/2012 21:38

My name has been mentioned but not in the right context. which is refershing and it isn't on you're list either but am not outing myself now! Grin

Cinquefoil · 17/02/2012 21:36

DS's name. I know no one else with it, and no one else who knows anyone else who has it. Like Dials said, waiting for it to be mentioned. . .

GColdtimer · 17/02/2012 21:36

Op, you know A LOT of children!

Dd's name is on your list. I know an adult one but not met another child with he'd name, not that it's that uncommon.

DialsMavis · 17/02/2012 21:33

DS's name has never been on any of the ONS lists so there must be less than 2 a year born

Shoopaloop · 17/02/2012 21:32

More girls I have just thought of: Posy, Fleur, Dorothea, Cecilia, Cheyenne, Hope, Briar, Alys

More boys: Barney, Aloysius, Ty, Bay, Miles

manicinsomniac · 17/02/2012 21:32

You only know of one boy named Lucas?

Yep! And he's 13 too. Weird I know.

DialsMavis · 17/02/2012 21:32

I keep waiting for someone to mention my DS's name on one of these threads, then I can guess how I know them. As far as I am aware I know no MNers but if soemone said the name it would be proof that I do. I am aware of twin boys called Chakra and Karma and a girl called Dolce

manicinsomniac · 17/02/2012 21:30

There seem to be more girls names out there than boys?

According to the ONS, in 2010 there were 7394 girls names given to 3 children or more (names only given to 1 or 2 children not listed due to privacy) but only 6039 boys names given to 3 children or more. Strange.

There are 1681 one year old girls out there who share their name with only two other girls their age.
There are 1355 one year old boys who share their name with only two other boys their age.

I'm in bed ill and bored and have waaaaay too much time on my hands!

OP posts:
Shoopaloop · 17/02/2012 21:26
