Just wondering, in these times when 'old man' names are all the rage, what do we think of this?

Any age, but I am up North and know plenty!

LadyBeagleEyes · 15/02/2012 21:31

I think it's very regional too,
I like Donald as it's traditional up here.
I hate Henry as in my mind it's an upper class chinless wonder sort of name.
Ditto Nigel and Giles.

Mrsmonkfish · 15/02/2012 21:17

BTw - he doesn't hit them, it's just for fun!

Mrsmonkfish · 15/02/2012 21:17

I think he is 11, has a big pair of boots, likes running about in the wind, and chases animals with a stick!

lilmamma · 15/02/2012 21:09

old,fat, scottish, loud :S

StealthPolarBear · 15/02/2012 07:16

80s/90s now. My Grandad had a brother called Donald, about that age range.

nooka · 15/02/2012 07:01

There are a few Don's at my work, so I would probably imagine a 40-50 year old.

MitrochondrialEve · 15/02/2012 00:32

70 with lots of grey ear hair.

TessTickular · 15/02/2012 00:26

big beak.

tilbatilba · 15/02/2012 00:20

Adore the name! Would use it in a heartbeat.

SnapSnafu · 15/02/2012 00:15

I know them all ages, but then I'm of Teuchter stock, and grew up in Glasgow.

Most island Donalds are Donald John or Donald Iain or Donald Angus. So DJ is pretty common too. Or Donnie, or Dolly (the gaelic short form), though I don't think I've heard of a Dolly under 80.

CrazyBabyLady · 15/02/2012 00:07

My dad is Donald and he is 52 this year.
My little brother is Donald-Aaron and he is 22 this year.
All other Donalds I know are 50s/60s/70s/80s

ScoutJemAndBoo · 14/02/2012 22:24

Is it too late to change his name?

i could ask the registrar, but given he is old enough to marry and vote, they might give me short shrift Grin

My brother, 53.
Named after a favourite uncle.
I also live in Scotland (Highlands) and there's loads up here of all ages.
Most are Dons and Donnies for short.

roisin · 14/02/2012 21:54

I only know one: he's in his twenties and extremely talented. Hence I love the name!

Plonker · 14/02/2012 21:32

My FIL was Donald and he'd be ooh, 78 or so if he were still with us? Apparently he disliked his name. MIL told us this when dh announced one of ds's middle names would be Donald...
