We both like the name Humphrey very much, but it does seem to be a love it or hate it name. What's the MN verdict?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Popoozle · 14/02/2012 16:54

No. Not for me, sorry.

Awful name.

missmiss · 14/02/2012 16:37

Yes!

MrsBovary · 14/02/2012 16:36

One of my children was nick named 'humph' by her siblings, because of the noise she made as a toddler stomping off to sulk Smile

Wasn't there a camel connection?

I'm not keen personally (sorry), there's something vaguely comical about it. Herbert?

LouMacca · 14/02/2012 15:58

MamaM - I love Humphreys as a surname, it sounds all warm and squishy! Grin

I have a baby Humphreys (it's my last name Wink)

EdithWeston · 14/02/2012 15:31

Anyone else remember the advert jingle

"Get more milk, they're on the attack.

Watch out, watch out, watch out, watch out
'cos the Humphreys are back"

LouMacca · 14/02/2012 15:28

Hate it.

YES!

See, you were right about the Marmite Smile

lisaro · 14/02/2012 15:24

NO!

EdithWeston · 14/02/2012 15:21

I rather like it.

But you'll get sick of "What do you call a camel with three humps?"

Greenwing · 14/02/2012 15:19

Nooooo!
Ugly.
Quite hard to pronounce.
Hump is not an attractive start to the name visually either.

My sons would definitely have the hump if I named them Humphrey.

Westcountrylovescheese · 14/02/2012 14:03

I know quite a few people for whom Humphrey is the alternative word used for 'spot' as in 'I've got a huge Humphrey on my chin'. So I wouldn't use it for that reason...

Willabywallaby · 14/02/2012 14:00

Yes

I have a friend with a baby Humphrey. I was dubious at first but I really like it now.

Go for it!

IslaValargeone · 14/02/2012 13:57

Hell No.

MsMarple · 14/02/2012 13:56

Not keen myself, although on the bright side you could buy clothes with his name already on them:

I think there are books and bedding sets out there too!

TeddyMcardle · 14/02/2012 13:52

I like it, I think a little baby Humphrey would be adorable.

Moknicker · 14/02/2012 13:20

no

Pasiphae · 14/02/2012 13:18

No

allyfe · 14/02/2012 13:15

Personally, awful. Awful in full, awful shortened. Sorry!

LaFilleSurLePont · 14/02/2012 11:39

It's awful. An incredibly ugly name.

Itsallacademicanyway · 14/02/2012 11:34

No. Just no.
