I did a list like this for December and got some interesting responses Grin

For discretion I'm not posting the babies' middle names, although it does include those where I'm getting my info from. I live in a mid-size town in the midwestern US. As an interesting point of note - there were 70 girls born and 58 boys.

Braelyn ?

And what's the obsession with K names?

lurkinginthebackground · 13/02/2012 00:01

There is a lot of variety there. Not many classic names more on the "unique" side.
I really like Kennedy though.

CheerfulYank · 12/02/2012 22:16

Who knew? :o Though I do like Liam and Stella for names as well, actually.

Greenshirt · 12/02/2012 22:14

Yes cheerful and you know an even more bizarre coicidence? Margaret is my moms name and we almost chose it as her middle name. Tori Spelling has taste after all!

CheerfulYank · 12/02/2012 19:10

Tori Spelling just named her daughter Hattie, so be prepared to hear more! :)

Greenshirt · 12/02/2012 18:57

Thanks! She is Hattie on her BC (middle name Hope). She is 13 now and there has not been one born in our area in that time, needless to say never been one in her class! Our son aged 6 is called Dexter, which I thought was quite an American type name!(named before the TV series!)
Nature-I had heard that Hattie could be a male name too-bizarre!!

NatureAbhorsAHoover · 12/02/2012 16:28

My grandfather's middle name was Hattie! It was his mother's maiden name and he was teased mercilessly all his life for it as it was v v unusual for that time. That's fantastic that it's a real name now Grin

Popbiscuit · 12/02/2012 14:03

Hattie is lovely Smile

CheerfulYank · 12/02/2012 14:01

Hattie is quite popular here Greenshirt. Usually on its own, not short for Harriet.

pixiestix · 12/02/2012 13:14

The girls seemed to have faired worse than the boys this month imo! Grin

Greenshirt · 12/02/2012 11:28

I have a Hattie! Amazed to see it on the list!!

Lol @ Mumbai

And mobile home parks- not many. This hospital serves the entire town of about 140,000 - so would say vast majority of these babies are middle class, which is the vast majority demographic of the town.

Come to think of it shouldn't someone tell Aries' Mum that she really should've picked Capricorn or Aquarius.

Popbiscuit · 12/02/2012 01:27

Karson? Keegan? Kyson? Kensley?

Aaagh! My eyes!

OP are there a large number of, um, mobile-home parks in your town?

Don't answer that.

CheerfulYank · 12/02/2012 01:03

Teen Moms had a Bentley. :)

I think you should go around to Deegan's house and try to get them to tweak it slightly to Deaglan.

joanofarchitrave · 12/02/2012 01:01

Slightly Confused about an Autumn being born in January. I suppose it's no more weird than a Holly born in August, there must be plenty of those.

HolyNoSheDittantBatman · 12/02/2012 00:55

Not as bad as December, most of them are fairly normal! Poor old Karizma though and Carver.

I think of the Teen Moms had a Brantley is that why it's become popular?

mumbaisapphire · 11/02/2012 23:12

Yep it was he played Brantley Foster. My mind stores the most useless info. Anyway, getting off track. Poor little Dixie. I can only hope Karizma doesn't turn out to be a boring cow.

mumbaisapphire · 11/02/2012 23:09

Wasn't Michael J. Fox's character in The Secrets of My Success called Brantley?

Goes off to Google....

Fishpond · 11/02/2012 22:02

I have never heard of Samyah - I thought it was made up.

Brantley is a surname here, and almost all surnames have now been transformed into first names.

Chapel? very very strange.
2 Kyleighs - I bet both mums thought they were going for a unique spelling.

Dillydollydaydream · 11/02/2012 18:25

Not keen on Karizma.
Never heard of Brantley, is it a US thing?

nailak · 11/02/2012 18:09

whats wrong with samyah?

Vanfurgstan · 11/02/2012 18:02

Carver stands out to me. Also the very few repeats.

Samyah is an arabic name.
