What do you think ladies?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm going to have that song in my head all night now!

No, sorry.

jandymaccomesback · 12/02/2012 15:56

Haven't you seen the adverts featuring "Jusrol Janet"? If they carry on with that campaign there will be ample scope for teasing in the future.

cashmere · 12/02/2012 15:49

Harriet or just Jane much nicer

cashmere · 12/02/2012 15:48

No

startail · 12/02/2012 11:44

The nicest, prettiest most genuine girl in my year at school was Janet.
It's still dull and because it was still being used in the 60's early 70's still, like Sarah, Susan, Rachel, Jayne, Helen and Ann, likely to be a Mum name.

TidyDancer · 12/02/2012 11:08

I don't think it's an absolutely vile name or anything, but it is boring.

Nettee · 12/02/2012 08:16

I am called Janet - I didn't like it when I was growing up. I am very used to it now and think it is quite nice. I have an Auntie Janet too and I think it suits her (she is lovely and not a doily type, born in the 40s).

Most people call me Janet. Nettie is a nick name occasionally used by a few people. About three people over my lifetime have decided to call me Jan which has been fine too.

Agree that it is not currently very trendy and I don't meet many others so it hasn't been for a good 30 years but perhaps that is a good thing in some ways. There won't be three Janet's in the class

pixelpeeper · 12/02/2012 06:34

I like Janet much more than Florence, Elsie, Esme, iris, Dora, etc etc.
It's not something I personally would choose, but I was never a fan of old lady names and am now totally over them. Please let the old lady name ship sail. Janet is just fine Grin

EllenParsons · 12/02/2012 02:36

I kind of like it but wouldn't actually use it. Goes with Nancy, Susan, Gillian etc IMO...

BackforGood · 11/02/2012 23:10

I think most Janets would be in their 50s, 60s, 70s, so probably a bit early for it to be trendy again, but actually I think that counts as a positive. Lovely name. Smile

ExitPursuedByaBear · 11/02/2012 23:06

I am 52, and my best friend in infant school was a Janet. She moved to Swindon when we were 9.

Too soon for a comeback methinks.

MrsAmaretto · 11/02/2012 23:01

Yes, love it! Far nicer than many popular girls names today imo.

ihatethecold · 11/02/2012 14:37

im a janet, im 38 and im called jan by most people.

i have to say , i dont like my name, never have , never will Sad

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 11/02/2012 11:47

No - far too 70's.

sparkle12mar08 · 11/02/2012 11:46

My great grandparents were ahead of their time then - my grandma was a Janet Rose born in 1919! I think to todays ears it just sounds a bit clunky and not soft enough. I wouldn't choose it myself I fully admit, but it's a perfectly good name.

TinkerMaloo · 11/02/2012 10:22

sorry, but no.

Tirana · 11/02/2012 10:08

You'll be about 10 yrs ahead of the new trend. All the 1950's names will be back in vogue soon enough.

I like them a lot more than the 1920's /1930's now which are popular now.

marriednotdead · 11/02/2012 07:37

Have relative named Janet. Has been strictly known as Jan for years.
Don't do it, as others have said, you're too early, it's not due a comeback yet!

Ephiny · 11/02/2012 07:37

I know a Janet in her early 20s, nickname Net. It's unusual for that generation though, though to be fair it isn't actually her birth name, it's the English name she chose when she moved here (she has a Chinese name as well).

It suits her though, and if you can get over the 'old-fashioned' connotations, it's actually quite a pretty name.

Montsti · 11/02/2012 07:30

No!!
