Angharad or Esther or Rebecca

Rebecca was an ex of DH'sSad

anniemcphee · 24/04/2012 23:56

For my DD I liked Alexandra Jayne, and for a boy Alexander James (so imaginative lol). Then I knew I was having a girl and I decided I liked Layla but DH vetoed. I was then reading a Jodi Pilcoult book and fell in love with one of the character names and DH liked a modified version and that was that.

I liked Winter for a boy and Autumn for a girl during my 2nd pregnancy, but DH pointed out we would start to sound like a Littlewoods Catalogue given what we named DD Blush
Then I liked Drew (DH has Andrew as a middle name) but MIL hated it so DH agreed with her. She wanted us to call him Scott....
So we opted for a safe suits everyone name. And I wish to this day I had gone more out there - as it seems odd with DD having an out there name Confused

For DD I wanted Verity or Constance. DH wanted Mary - we settled on Abigail.

fondantfancier · 24/04/2012 08:15

I was gunning for Valentine and Doris.

nappyaddict · 23/04/2012 15:56

Helena is beautiful I think I'd like that for a future girl. I like Maxwell/Maximilian but my cousin's DS is Max so couldn't have it.

OP posts:
Frikadellen · 16/02/2012 12:09

for dd1 we agreed on Maxwell/Maximillan for a boy for girls we had Elizabeth, Alexa/Alexia Helena or Sophia
for dd2 we had no boys name could not agree at all would have likely been Benjamin as when I was in labour it was the only boysname the midwife came up with we didnt turn our nose up to.. for girls names we had Millicent, Amelia, Amabel
for ds we had Søren and for a girl we had Ilona Iona (we were fairly certain he was a boy as he had a condition that mainly occurs in boys in womb - not that we knew for sure)
for dd3 she would have been Søren Bertram or Bertram Søren (Søren is my lategrandfathers name and Bertram FILs mn who passed away when I was 8 month pg with this one) girls names we had Seraphina, Maeve

Conflugenglugen · 16/02/2012 11:56

Gabriel. Such a lyrical name.

birdofthenorth · 16/02/2012 11:50

DD's name is on your list OP Smile

You were definitely ahead fo your time, some of these are becoming v trendy now!

If DH hadn't have vetoed I'd have gone for something bananas like Orchid, such were my hormones at the time. Thank goodness DH was there as a check and balance!

nappyaddict · 16/02/2012 11:35

I named him after my brother in the end - Toby. A few years later I heard of the name Tobin and wish I'd known about it 6 years ago though Grin

I have gone off Beatrice now which was top contender for a girl's name. I still love Beatrix but my sister has now called her dog Trixibelle Hmm

My dh had no choice haha,he is useless and was picking silly names from someone he went to school with so outdated, but he did pick no4 after his dad,as his dad died on Christmas eve and i felt mean not too,i wasnt that keen as it reminded me of a boy in my class who had big ears and nits,i know it wasnt his fault, but childhood things like that stay with you, anyway he suits his name,so glad he got it :)

RedHotPokers · 13/02/2012 22:39

DS was very nearly called Warwick .

MrsDobalina · 13/02/2012 22:29

Oops clumsy fingers!

... to know what you did call DS because you have some lovely names on your list!

We really wanted to call DS 'Happy' but weren't quite brave enough

DD got the brave name Grin

dearjane · 13/02/2012 22:28

I actually got the name DH vetoed for DD1 for DD2. Only took me two years to work on him Grin

MrsDobalina · 13/02/2012 22:26

nappyaddict you were way ahead of the curve 6 years ago (and I'm dying to know what you called

nappyaddict · 13/02/2012 00:11

I also like Theodora, Rafe, Raphael, Percy and Hector :)

OP posts:
JugsMcGee · 12/02/2012 16:23

We both liked Fox, but weren't brave enough!

I liked Aurelia for a girl but DH couldn't pronounce it. Along with Fraser.

DerbysKangaskhan · 12/02/2012 16:17

If I were braver, I would have used their Hebrew name as their first name rather than put it as a middle name. Between worrying about discrimination issues and family members butchering them (a few have odd/very strict ideas of what a 'proper name' is), I couldn't do it.

Psammead · 12/02/2012 14:35

Show Yay! I'm glad someone does! It sounds quite 'out there' but in a good way to me, and it's more common in Germany where we live so I thought I was onto a winner, but it turns out DH went to school with a 'stupid' Raphael so has bad associations. By stupid I think he meant a bit bullyish. Such a shame, it sounds so lovely to me!

breatheslowly · 12/02/2012 13:25

Xanthe - but I convinced myself that Xanthe would be the type of girl to be kicked out of boarding school for smoking pot.

Perdita - but DH said you can't call a baby a name that means "lost".

FourThousandHoles · 12/02/2012 13:18

Romilly
Hero
Elspeth

Leo
Gabriel (Gabe)
Nathaniel (Nate)

MadeInChinaBaby · 12/02/2012 13:11

Midnight as a middle name. DH loved it too. However, we took it as a sign when DS was born at midDAY and the first thing the paediatrician said was 'Wow, he's pale! He's the palest newborn I've ever seen!'

That said, the middle name he DID get is perhaps nuttier...

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 12/02/2012 12:58

Kari and Ombeline for DD2.

DD1's name was vetoed by DH but a few days after her traumatic birth when I asked again he let it go
