Have always loved Eva/Evie, but it's too popular for me now. Was thinking of Leila, or would she still be 1 of 5 in the class?

My 2 nieces are Leila/Laila. 1 is white british, the other of mixed middle eastern origin.

Love the name. Think it is persian.

MarieLloyd · 09/02/2012 15:06

I know two girls of primary school age called Layla / Laila, and three Leilas (one is about 10 I think, and the others are both teenagers). Nice name.

kahlua4me · 09/02/2012 12:03

I know of 2 Leila and 1 Lyla

lizziebennet · 09/02/2012 12:00

I know one - aged six months. I'm not too keen on it personally - there's all the confusion over which spelling and, I don't know, just doesn't float my boat. Each to their own though.

One - LOVE the name

boyfallingoutofthesky · 05/02/2012 20:32

Hi, I know a Laila (8 months) a Layla (2) and a Leela - all from quite middle class families in contrast to the previous poster,. I think it is a name that is on the rise and universally popular, crossing demographics.

AThingInYourLife · 05/02/2012 18:39

I know one adult Leila, who is Lebanese.

I love it.

MamaLazarou · 05/02/2012 18:34

(Beautiful name, btw)

MamaLazarou · 05/02/2012 18:33

I know one, aged 2.

molly3478 · 05/02/2012 18:33

I know 5 either laylas or leilas all under 5. I live in a socially deprived area and it is very popular.

SlinkingOutsideInFrocks · 05/02/2012 18:30

I don't know any - it's a lovely name and you've chosen the nicest spelling.

tanfastic · 05/02/2012 17:36

I was in Home Bargains today and someone was calling their child Leila.

cutteduppear · 05/02/2012 14:32

I know a grown up Leila, and a Lilou, and Lila, a Lyla, a Leela and a Lily.
I always get them mixed up and it's really embarrassing.

MrsJohnDeere · 05/02/2012 13:55

kumquatsarethelonelyfruit · 04/02/2012 22:46

My niece is a Layla.

tanfastic · 04/02/2012 22:42

My sister is called Leila and she's 44. She's the only Leila I know. It's a lovely name.

arwen110578 · 04/02/2012 22:41

Our DD is Laila and only one we personally know of and haven't come across any Leila's. BUT a lot of people spell her name Leila in cards! I always thought they were pronounced differently (ie, LAY-la v. LEE-la). I sort of wish we had spelt her name Layla to avoid confusion. Leila is very lovely. Just be prepared for lots of variations in cards!!. We have also had Leyla, Lila... and its frigging annoying
