Are our final two a bit crap?

We've finally managed to narrow it down to two names for each sex, and I think we're going to wait to meet the baby before we choose the final name. However, I'm really worried that our final two are a bit crap! What do you think of them, are they useable and do you have a favourite? DS's are Otis and Monty.

Asha Genevieve
or
Romilly Abigail

Tor Zachary
or
Gray Isaac

I love Gray. It's on our shortlist too.

ScoutJemAndBoo · 04/02/2012 18:38

Genevieve and Tor are the best

MadDash · 04/02/2012 18:22

juneau, it is Indian but is also an east African Swahili name meaning 'life' which I think is just beautiful.

I didn't mean to sound negative about Indian names, btw. Just read that back and realised it maybe sounded that way. Just that I don't get the impression that you're Indian, so the name is a bit of an odd choice.

juneau · 04/02/2012 18:10

Tor and Gray are yuk IMO. They're not even names IMO. Tor? Where on earth did you get that from? Sorry to sound so negative, but it sounds like it's short for something - but what?

As for Asha? Quite pretty, but sounds Indian. And Romilly? Bleugh! Sorry. Don't like that at all.

Lonnie · 04/02/2012 18:05

I think you have chosen beautiful names.

Banjogurl · 04/02/2012 16:49

My name is Genevieve, shortened it to Genna, or Gen. I've grown to love it now, but sometimes it was a difficult name to have at school surrounded by Sharons and Traceys. It made me look a tad pretentious I think...

Collision · 04/02/2012 12:19

Otis, Monty and Romilly

Otis, Monty and Theo

Otis, Monty and Finn

whatsmyage · 04/02/2012 07:00

The girls are great but Tor and Gray not so much, sorry!

PutThatCatOutNow · 03/02/2012 22:56

Asha and Tor are lovely. Graham is nice as a full name for Gray. Genevieve is just beautiful!

seeker · 03/02/2012 20:00

If you're goingnto name your child something off the wall thennyounneednto be very sure indeed that that is what you want to do. There will be times when your child doesn't like it/gets fed up of the comments( even the positive ones) and if you are at all wobbly about using the name you will, I promise you, feel crap.

VeryStressedMum · 03/02/2012 19:12

But at the end of the day you name your baby whatever you like after all you are going to have to say that name millions of times over the years so it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks Smile

VeryStressedMum · 03/02/2012 19:11

Someone said they liked Seren - LOVE that name would go nicely with your children's names too Smile

MadDash · 03/02/2012 18:57

Thanks for all of the replies. I'm really doubting myself now as I'm thinking that if I'm posting on here I must not really love the names. Or am I over thinking it?

love Asha, DD is an Aisha, and she loves her name. How about a Hugh?

coccyx · 03/02/2012 17:47

yes they are crap.
BUT if you like them then go for it

belgo · 03/02/2012 17:46

I know a Thor, pronounced Tor.

belgo · 03/02/2012 17:46

I think they are all great names.

Minty82 · 03/02/2012 17:45

And actually just remembered I was at school with a Romilly and thought it was quite cool!

Minty82 · 03/02/2012 17:41

I love Isaac and Zachary, and Genevieve is pretty (and gives you nn options - Genny/Evie etc)...

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/02/2012 17:10

Asha Genevieve is lovely. Really dislike Romilly. Don't like the boys' names at all.

hev2010 · 03/02/2012 14:27

I know someone who has just named their son Tor Issac. I love all your boys names!

notso · 03/02/2012 14:26

I really like Romilly but I don't like the name Abigail at all I don't know why, it's just one of those names you dislike for no reason. I am not keen on Geneveive either.
Asha is nice but not as nice as Romilly, I would choose Romilly Asha for a girl.

I love the name Isaac DS2 was Isaac for twenty mins! Then we learned there were two others born that day so we went for our second choice.
I like Gray better than Tor, Tor sounds a bit unfinished to me. Gray sounds good with Otis and Monty.

suburbandream · 03/02/2012 14:25

I like them all except Zachary, there are already lots of Zacs about!

Bonsoir · 03/02/2012 14:21

I hear tort (French for "wrong"), achats (French for "purchases") and gré (French for "volition").
