I really wanted to call a son Pelham. Some Georgette Heyer hero who caught my fancy when I was aged about 14.
And I had a yearning for a daughter called Bathsheba.
You?
I'm not talking credible or in with a chance. I'm talking about the lovely names you wanted but everyone were too dim to see their wonder.

I like the name Phillip. Very handsome.

Orlando

I really really loved Orlando

Would not have suited DS though. He is a big bruising rugby player (a prop). There aren't many rugby players called Orlando

Maybe though, if he had been called Orlando, he would have grown into his name by becoming an effete aesthete

I really wanted phillip for ds2 as i like the name in it's entirerity but also phil as a nic name plus pip sounds soo cute for a baby but Dh vetoed as he felt it didn't go with our surname. Will have another go should we decide to go for a dc3
loved fiona and Niamh for a girl but was talked out of them due to the spelling of Niamh and Dh didn't like fiona

if we're talking perfectly nice unusual names, I would have loved Gideon or Casper for a boy or dominica or Fuschia for a girl.

Felix - it was what we called the bump but in the end I wanted to use it.
Micah
Tallulah

I always loved the name Fritha. Anglo-Saxon and the heroine of a Rosemary Sutcliffe book ! Everyone we mentioned it to hated it...they made us too uneasy to choose it. Sad

BroomForMyChin · 27/01/2012 21:53

I really wanted DD to be called Rowan or Fae or Rosalie. But he absolutely refused to use anything that wasn't a "proper" name Sad

Kayzr · 27/01/2012 21:51

Rafe and Sahara. XH said no and DP has said no Sad

HugeFurryWishingStool · 27/01/2012 21:50

I like Tabitha & Bathsheba too...

catinboots · 27/01/2012 21:49

DS2 would have been Rufus if it was just down to me.

DS2 is Hugo which I love. But do you know what Rufus means??

Red Haired Child.

Guess what colour DS2's hair is??

Tabitha is gorgeous. Nothing wrong with that.

Mine is Savannah Blush. Ther was a TV series of that name just after DD was born. Luckily we'd already named her.

Boys - I've always loved Gaylord Blush Blush At least, I always thought it was Gaylord, the dad in the Sound of Music ( Christopher someone who I always fancied) but recently when I re-watched the film I realised that his name was Georg (or similar), pronounced Gay-org.

2ndtimeblues · 27/01/2012 21:48

I also wanted Edith. And Penelope.

Felix.
Tabitha.

Maybe DH had a point?

AngiBolen · 27/01/2012 21:44

Amadeus

HugeFurryWishingStool · 27/01/2012 21:43

I wanted to call DS Wulfric, Wolfy for short. But everybody laughed. Sad

If I have a DD2, she will be called Hepzibah. DH says he'd rather have the snip. Sad

2ndtimeblues · 27/01/2012 21:42

Everyone was too dim.
There is something very wrong with my writing.
Ocean. I like.

I went through a reall hippy phase when I was pregnant with DS. I was coming up with things like ocean.
thankfully I was reminded that I didn't live on a commune.

I really really wanted to call DD Syndey But X was totally against it. I thought it would be very popular so gave in, I've not met another yet so should have just stuck to my guns.
