I really wanted to call a son Pelham. Some Georgette Heyer hero who caught my fancy when I was aged about 14.
And I had a yearning for a daughter called Bathsheba.
You?
I'm not talking credible or in with a chance. I'm talking about the lovely names you wanted but everyone were too dim to see their wonder.

Rex. :(

All of the Casson family names: Saffron, Cadmium, Indigo and Rose. Though Rose will maybe be on the table for the next one... :)

FelicityWits · 30/01/2012 04:14

I was talked out of Agamemnon (for the best, that one), Sindri and Lysander (both of which I still love and both of which 'suit' the DCs I wanted them for iyswim).

Alligatorpie · 30/01/2012 03:57

Krissie - my dd's bests friend is Marly. I think it is really cute and different.

Alligatorpie · 30/01/2012 03:55

Saffron for my first, I still love it.

Penelope for this baby ( I am20 weeks, so may still have time to change dh's mind)

Llareggub · 29/01/2012 22:45

I was talked out of Taliesin and it would have suited DS2 so well.

Fo0ffyShmo0ffer · 29/01/2012 22:43

If I had a girl I would have liked Snowy, Fluffy or Kitten.

I was told in no uncertain terms it was out of the questionHmm

I have a daughter. She has a lovely name. It isn't one of the above.

MrsCornish · 29/01/2012 22:41

HugeFurryWishingStool DS has a slightly unusual name and when we registered his birth the Registrar was very excited, and told us her son was called Wolf. And I like Alan too. Alan Taylor, to be complete.

MrsCornish · 29/01/2012 22:34

Ray

marshmallowpies · 29/01/2012 22:34

Ramona. Still secretly hoping DP will wake up and decide he DOES like it, after all.

HuggyPomBear · 29/01/2012 21:47

Christopher, simply because I wanted to use the nn Kit. Have always loved it. DH didn't (we had a DD anyway).
Monty
Wilfred.

India- when combined with our surname turns out to be a porn star.
Ingrid
Astrid
Greta
Holly

What I would have wanted since I was a teenager:
Amethyst
January

KristinaM · 29/01/2012 17:26

Saskia

Apparently was an unpopular character in a soap ( non soap watcher here)

Still love Darius actually. Don't know why people laughed.

I was sorely tempted by Patience as well. And Florence. And Darius for a boy.

Finn

LineRunner · 29/01/2012 02:36

Quite Dickensian, though.

KrissieJules · 29/01/2012 01:57

Wanted to call my daughter Marley but everyone said it was a dog's name :(

BelinaTheChicken · 29/01/2012 01:20
  • she'd, not shed
BelinaTheChicken · 29/01/2012 01:18

Loved Atticus but was talked out of it, also Sid
Romila for a DD but DH hated it, also Lydia but DH thought shed be called chlamydia Lydia so vetoed it Sad. Have two DSs and probably won't be having more even though we just had a pregnancy scare that I'm a bit sad was only a scare

oldsilver · 29/01/2012 00:54

We said all the way though pregnancy that if it were a boy and born on Christmas Day (due 8th Jan) we would call him Damien.

Christmas Day appears, DS is born surprise surprise - MIL was in tears when DP phoned her to let her know, yes she was pleased - but hoped that we hadn't called him Damien cause that would be too awful. We hadn't Smile

Letchladee · 29/01/2012 00:46

There were so many names that Dh wouldn't let me have. With the boys names, its probably for the best.

For a boy, I really wanted Jolyon (shortened to Joe) as I love the book the Forsyte Saga, and the character Old Jolyon was based on an ancestor of mine.

I also loved Haydn, having dated a very nice (upper middle class) Haydn at Uni. But, given the way that name has gone I am pleased I was talked out of that one Grin.

For girls, I really liked Charlotte (nn Lottie) but DH hated Lottie so he wouldn't let me have that and I also liked Annabelle. However, my mother pointed out that Anna didn't really go with my surname, so that was that. I also loved Elizabeth for a girl, but was concerned about Liz as a nickname (which I can't stand) so that name was also ruled out.

In the end, DD2 had very much a compromise name that Dh and I both liked, but neither of us loved. That said, she now has a cute nickname which suits her - but I can see it being dropped as she reverts back to her more mature name as she gets older. If allowed, I would still choose Charlotte, Elizabeth or Annabelle.

LineRunner · 29/01/2012 00:00

That's why we get cats, Lucy.

WoollyHead · 28/01/2012 23:57

Hebe

DH just looked at me. Especially when I explained I got it from a TV drama about a middle class prostitute in some leafy village Blush

LucyFarinelli · 28/01/2012 23:54

I would love to have a DD called Temperance, Tempe for short. But never having another baby so... In my dreams

thepeoplesprincess · 28/01/2012 23:44

I have a Persephone. It suits her perfectly (bringer of destruction!) and I've never regretted it.
