names you would never, ever call your child

I dislike any hyphenated names. I have one and don't like it.
I can think of at least four girls born in the last two years named x-May/Mai. Latest being Kaycee-Mai. I especially dislike this, I don't really like K names, I have one, which has been mentioned on the thread.

I also have an irrational dislike of the name Noah. No idea why. I'm not keen on lots of old lady names, Ethel, Martha, Mary, Doris, Enid etc.

DD2's first and mns both on here now. :)

I don't think it's a horrible thread. It's just people expressing opinions. I like dd's names so it matters not a jot to me if somebody else thinks they are cutesy or silly or whatever. Why should it?

Ellie, Millie, Gracie, Amelia, Caitlin or any other of those really Cutesy girly names. They're really not my cup of tea, nothing wrong with them otherwise

Not keen on the whole Hayden/Jayden thing for boys either or connor, tyler, Callum, Kieron. Again perfectly good names just not for me.

I quite like the name chris/christopher for a boy but could never use it with our surname because the poor child would then share his full name with a famous person! Feel thats a little bit mean :)

ThePoorMan - I agree. I don't like those type of names - especially ending in an "ie" - e.g. Hollie, Mollie. Imagine filling in a PhD application form.

Rebecca, Catherine, Sarah, Jane, Louise, Elizabeth, Juliet and Eleanor have a grown woman about them whilst still sounding pretty.

I'm not mad on the flowery ones. I know a few of the twee flowery ones and none of the girls in question are twee or flowery.

Evelyn, Evie is lovely, but Evelyn will always be an ancient great aunt. Like Maud, Gladys and Beryl.

I have know a few Lily's and Poppy's in their 50's though, didn't seem particularly odd, people grow into their names too, plus once you meet someone, their name is kind of just them isn't it?

Anything ending in -bert or -ie, for boys. Honoria, Emmeline, Alberta, Gertrude. Although I might feel different about Honoria without the PG Wodehouse associations.

I don't see why it's a horrible thread, unless you are so sensitive that some randomer not liking your child's name would cause you to implode.

I'm not a fan of Evie or Mae or Evie-Mae, or any old lady names tbh especially if double barrelled with Mae or Rose, Esme or Enid or Florence or Ivy....you get the idea . One old lady name I do like though is Violet.

Also don't like overly American sounding names like Madison or Georgia, my niece has a Jenai as a friend which sounds like something from neighbours circa 1990, oh and a Chenille, odd.

For boys I dislike Bailey, Harvey, Mason, Kai, Kaydon lots of names really, I'm a bit more biblical in my tastes. I dislike old man names for boys too.

I agree with the previous posters who hate all the little girl twee names (particularly as they end up on grown women). Doubly hate flower names - doubly twee.

So all names like Daisy, Poppy, Rosie, Milly, Tilly, Lilly, Libby, Pansy and so on...
