Eving / Morning everyone!

Just wondered what everybody thought of the name Reagan (pron Ree-gan) for a little boy?

My colleague is having a nightmare thinking of names but this one seems to be sticking and i'm not too sure on it? (not that I have any influence on her babies name of course, just wondered what the general view on it was)

Is it American more than English? Sounds it to me?

Sorry, its horrible

KenDoddsDadsDog · 26/01/2012 07:07

It's the name of Gazzas son. Enough said.

Alligatorpie · 26/01/2012 05:32

My cousin is Reagan. Her twin brother is Tanner. We are Canadian.

I like it for a girl, not do much for a boy.

NotnOtter · 25/01/2012 22:13

love it love it but for a girl

wolfear · 25/01/2012 22:01

All I can see is evil little Regan from the Excorcist when I hear it. Sorry

Fluffmacduff · 25/01/2012 21:50

Really dislike

pilates · 24/01/2012 09:20

Horrible.

birdofthenorth · 24/01/2012 09:10

Bad. Sorry.

Jnice · 24/01/2012 06:22

Ugh, sorry but I hate it. It will always remind me if Ronald. Also, it is a girls name over here (N America).

CheerfulYank · 24/01/2012 05:49

I know a Ree-gan who is a girl, and also a little girl named Regan as in, rhymes with Megan.

Eagan is a boy's name, and I like that.

lazydog · 23/01/2012 18:36

I'm in Canada and I know several Reagans (pronounced Ree-gan) and all of them are female.

mathanxiety · 23/01/2012 16:13

Have seen both Regan and Reagan used exclusively as girls' names in the US. Very Hardcore Irish, and Republican (as in GOP, not Irish Republican).

EdithWeston · 23/01/2012 14:07

I see it as a girls name too, because of King Lear.

MamaLazarou · 23/01/2012 14:07

Exorcist. Ronald Regan. Sorry.

LaFilleSurLePont · 23/01/2012 10:43

Come up? WTF. Come to mind sorry.

LaFilleSurLePont · 23/01/2012 10:42

Ronald and The Exorcist come up mind. It's awful.

TinkerMaloo · 23/01/2012 10:24

its a girls name! king lear/exorcist

lisianthus · 23/01/2012 09:03

I went to primary school with a boy with that name, pronounced that way, in Oz. He would have been named before that president was elected though. [old gimmer emoticon] So it's not a hugely rare name. Without the "a", i think it would be a girl's name though.

CanadaCalls · 23/01/2012 01:28

brdgri I never knew that, every day's a school day hey :)

random I just knew i'd never live it down and people would take the piddle, not quite the start i'd planned for my newborn!

Dakota was fine, then Dakota Fanning appeared, and poor child's name just gave everyone the sniggers...

brdgrl · 23/01/2012 01:21

...particularly popular in the Americas with those keen to express their Irish roots or their misguided love of one of the USA's biggets presidential disasters.

randommoment · 23/01/2012 01:21

xpost - don't panic, my baby sis was dead set on Chelsea for about three weeks before the birth and two weeks after, but my adorable niece has safely ended up as Charley in the end.

CanadaCalls · 23/01/2012 01:20

Haha! I did actually like Dakota when I was pregnant with DS and then I came round and realised I'd be to blame for all the years of bullying :o

It is an Irish name, actually.

randommoment · 23/01/2012 01:17

As for names for a possible baby Canada, Canada itself is rather cool.
