Ok, OH and i were set on this name until about 7 months when i discovered that in some parts of the country it's commonly used as a nickname for girl's private parts!

So we changed our mind and now have a longer name which could be abbreviated to Minnie, Mia or Mina. We both still like Minnie the best but i wanted to ask if you have ever heard of Minnie as a nickname used in the playground for girly bits and if so where you are based?

I think i'm right in thinking it's mainly used as a nickname in the South and South West so we may get away with using it at home up North.

My Nana (in her 90's) is a Minnie and I never knew it's slang meaning until I became a Mnetter!

My SIL is a police officer and has often had to take statements from little girls who have been abused . She said that minnie was one of the most used words for female genitals. Midlands.

I live in S. Yorks and I know several people who use it as slang for genitals. I hadn't heard it until a few years ago, maybe its travelling north.

I'm in Somerset and have only heard it on here. When DD was little her name was shortened to Minnie. Doesn't put me off at all especially as there are other names used that can also mean fanjo!

I know a Minnie, and (London) I've not heard it used as a term for genitalia.

It's nice, but I think you are right to have a longer name - it's a bit twee for teen or adult.

Ive lived up north and down south and never heard minnie as girls bits!
